LED Needle install - what color should i leave the needles?

Hey guys. I currently have the clear needles on my 96 gxe. I painted the back side of them with a blue sharpie marker so they look blue. Anyway I'm doing my led needle, reverse indiglo install tommorow. What would I get best results with? Should I leave the needles blue? Should I sand the marker off and leave them clear? I thought I read somewhere that someone got very nice results painting them white?

Any feedback would be great.

Thanks,
Chris
