Had a bit of a fender bender in my 99SE...actually hood, left fender, grills, radiator, bumper cover. Oh well it happens. Needed a rental car for a month so I had Hertz order in a 2k2 Max. They did it! Got one for me from 90 miles away and had it delivered. They first gave me a Buick Century but when I found out it would be 4 weeks I told them I wanted a Max or I would go rent elsewhere.
Car is a GLE with 3600 miles. I didn't know they made stipped GLE's......cloth, no Bose, no sunroof, no climate control. Seems to me it should be badged GXE. Makes me want one though, interior is great, alot better performance than my 99. Wow. Did I mention it flies. Spins the tires much easier than mine, it has re-92's, love the increased torque as it accelerates effortlessly. You just leave everybody behind at light at 1/2 throttle! Beat a 98 GT covertable stang tonight and the girl driving just watched me go by. My 99 wouldn't do that. When mine comes out of the shop it wont be long till I get that 2k2 6 speed.................

 

Rental fleets will get car "specially ordered" to their tastes. . . I know the Maxima's we have are all SEs but they are normal base SE's. Although the Carollas we have are the base model Corolla and the dealer commented that they don't know how we negotiated the 4 speed trannies in them. . . I guess they are supposed to come with 3 speed. I am assuming other cars are like this also, but I don't know them well enough to tell the difference in trims. The new maxs are fun to drive although we don't have any in our permanent fleet.

 

I see that but standard features should be standard. The book will show a value for a GLE in the future and its NOT! I agree rentals should be able to special order but if the features go below what is standard on that model they shouldn't get the badge. They will sell it in the future with GLE on it and thats wrong. Maybe I should just remove the GLE badge for them!!!! Love the car though.

 

They don't. You have a GXE. If Hertz re-sells as a GLE, it is fraud.

I agree but that GLE badge on the back.......like I said it needs to go. When I was walking up to the car I was all excited that it would be loaded but when I got in I found it was stripped. Oh well. I checked under the hood and at least they didnt put in a 4 cyl from an Altima.....wouldnt that be funny.

 

They most likely put the GLE badge for renting only. Before they sell it they will again, most likely put back the GXE. The reason they say its a GLE because anyone who might know the difference they don't want to look cheap, plus they can say they rent out GLE's. It would be fraud if they try to sell it as a GLE, but for renting purposes, they really aren't doing anything wrong.

Steal the engine out of it. Then your 99 will fly.

 

That would be a package...someone will do it. I want to take the rental to the track...do they ck registrations???
