Nitrous Express Direct Port Kit
Nitrous Express Direct Port Kit
As some of you are aware, after I get a y-pipe, cat, and b-pipe onto my car when I put in the SMC STS sitting right beside me, I am looking to go with nitrous.
After comparing wet systems, dry systems, single port, direct port, as well as taking into account different companies and pricing, I am pretty much set on the Nitrous Express Sport Compact Direct Port system.
This system on a Maxima will have 6 direct port "Pirhana" injectors which mix the gas and nitrous just before injection into each intake runner. Power increases start at 60hp, and increase in 30hp increments up to a maximum of 250hp. The kit can easily kit 500hp with small NX upgrades.
The kit includes a 10 lbs. bottle, fuel solenoid, nitrous solenoid, hard lines, soft lines, 6 injectors, and all electronics/wiring required.
It does NOT include a warmer, gauges, remote opener, blanket, etc.
I can get this Nitrous Express 80006efi kit for $1000 Canadian, after 15% taxes. Which means about $850 Canadian.
Besides this kit, I will also purchase a window switch and an upgraded fuel pump at the same time. I have found high capacity Walbros for about $100-150 Canadian, and window switches for about the same.
As that will be all the money I can dump into the car for the year (about $1000 for the exhaust and about $1300 for the nitrous), I will have to wait for the following year to get things like gauges, blankets, warmers, remote openers, larger/second bottle, etc. Those will probably cost me close to $750.
Do any nitrous veterans have any suggestions? How does the pricing on the components sound?
Thanks for the help guys.

Good choice in Nitrous Brand!
I can find out tomorrow how much I can get the kit for and e-mail you, I might be able to get it a bit cheaper. The bottle warmer is really an important part of the system. Spraying at 600psi and 1000psi makes a huge difference! It's almost like getting half the HP if the bottle is not warmed up.

Where in canada are you located? Not only am I interested in the prices, but I don't know any of the legalities of NOS around here in Toronto. As far as I know, it's classified as "transporting dangerous goods" and without a license for that, it's a pretty hefty fine. However it's a trucker school course for acouple of hundred dollars and maybe 6 hours. I could sit through that easily to know that if a cop stopped me with a bottle in my trunk, I'd just be able to laugh it off

Yes, transportation of nitrous is illegal, and usage of it on public roads is VERY illegal. But unless a cop sees nitrous gauges and parafenial, i.e. stickers, lines, gauges, etc, a cop will never have the right to check for nitrous. So if you install it discreetly, never use it on public roads, you will probably never ever run into a problem with law enforcement.
I plan on running the NX Direct Port kit, and plumb the hard lines on the back side of the intake manifold, the solenoids behind sheetmetal, the bottle in a trunk lined box mounted to the underside of the rear deck, basically, everything out of site, so that when I am pulled over (notice how I say when, and not if
), as long as I don't provide reasons for the cop to have just cause to search my car, he will never have the right to do so. If he does, the case will be thrown out on illegally obtained evidence.

I'm not a nitrous expert by any means, but I believe on a wet kit it is even more important to have gauges than on a dry kit. The wet kit has a lot more potential as far as gains, but I'm pretty sure it's also harder to tune. A fuel pressure gauge and EGT would help a LOT in tuning the setup and making sure you don't have any problems with it.

Hey Sin
That is a steal at that price, you getting it here? Most places are quoting around $800 US so you are getting a deal.
I just helped my Son put the direct port NX kit on his VR6, lots of fun as opposed to a dry kit. Had to get a flaring tool capable of working with SS a normal plumbers flaring tool won't work. Also had to get a bending tool for the hard lines. Haven't tried it out yet but will starting with 125 and probably go up to 150. According to NX those are pretty conservative number compared to what some people are doing.
Also, NX pride themselves in being within 1% or so on their HP figures unlike NOS which are 25% low in some instances.
Good Luck
PS My propane bottle is more dangerous than a Nitrous bottle but they are legal to carry, go figure.

Erik, I need a lot of nitrous kits. I really don't have a good connection for NX right now, just NOS, and my customers want NX. If you could, shoot me a price for 8 direct port kits for 4 cylinder applications. And 1 kit for a 6 cylinder, I just need the direct port part, I already have a dry kit installed on my car and I have to keep the bottle NOS, etc. Email me at sales@ap-signworks.com whenever you get a chance. Thanks.

If I were you, I would not operate your nitrous oxide system without gauges and all the other safety elements, such as a bottle warmer, blow-off valve, down tube, etc. If your engine runs lean, you may not even suspect it until you here a BOOM! from the engine compartment, along with a mass exodus of red-hot engine pieces through the hood, fenders, and firewall... Did I mention a flak jacket? Be patient.
