Problem with installing FSTB, one of the strut tower bolts won't come off

So I got all of the bolts out on the strut tower except for one of them.

The bolt keeps on turning, but it won't come out. Now I did this at a friend's place during the intermission of the Leafs vs Senator game <WE WON BIYATCCHHEESS!> so I didn't wanna waste time getting the bolt out when I could watch the game..that said, I missed the scoring of the second goal!

Anyway I put the remaing bolts back on and will try agian. Any reason why that one particular bolt refuses to come out? It just turns and turns. I dind't really wanna force it out incase I should break something.

I torqued hte bolts back to 40ft/lbs. I hope that is ok.

Any suggestions??

Thanks.

Well either it's stripped or the stud is turning in the strut mount. Either way you may have to hack it off.

How is it possible for the stud to be stripped when the car is relatively new?? <its gonna be three years old in June> and only has around ~35k miles on it.

Is hacking off the bolt safe??

worse case scenario would be to hack it off. See if a local shop will try using an air tool to remove it. If the stud is stripped/threaded, you'll have to replace the upper strut mount.
