Where can you take your car to have your ALTernator rewound?

How much is it, how hard, and where should I take it? And, what kind of amperage are we talking it would put out? I get some not too bad dimming when I crank it but at 80% or less power I dont get any dimming, but would that also be a problem on the battery? I can upgrade the alt to bat wire too I supposed, but I still need a bigger alt, cause I dont want a cap. Im running around 1200 watts out of it, 900 class d, 300 class a. Let me know, thanks!

A big alt is useless without a cap. And more expensive. The cap provides the power for surges that cause the lights to dim. A 10 gigabazillion amp alt wouldn't keep the light from dimming because the alt doesn't turn on until it detects the voltage dropping. In that second your lights dim. The cap solves that issue. If everything else is wired properly. I wouln't consider a new alt unless you have at least 2500 watts. Even then I would only do it if the electrical system, properly wired, had voltage issues. Definitely increase the factory battery to ground wires and the chassis ground to engine ground wires.

I have been told that the stuff in the 4th gen is 4 gauge. The stuff in my '99 is either low quality 4 gauge, or average 6 gauge. I am talking about the grond wire. Remember, voltage travels from neg. to pos. And for it to flow either way you need adequate gauge wire to reduce resistance in the wire. The greater the resistance in the wire, the greater the voltage drop along the length of a wire. Like putting resisters in line with the power supply.
