so I get in the car to go to lunch, moveing at around maybe 10mph in the praking lot, and a big *** BEE or a Wasp comes in through the window and I'm like trying to dodge that damn thing B4 it stings me and BAMMMMMM the car bounces off the curb, I press the break and the pedal goes to the ground, I'm like Damn Something broke for sure. some smoke comeing out of the front and the car ain't stoppin??? finally it comes to a rest, I go out and look and Damn my heart just fell on the ground... But O well Its happined now, had the car towed to the dealer and they'll have insurance come look at it tomorrow. So far looks like the front rim/tire, rear rim, Tie rod end, Lower control arm and strut are busted, a little scratch on the front bumper but other then that no body damage.

Looks like the front chin got scrap a little->

There are some marks on the wheel well too. I never seen a rim brake off like that. They usually just bent. Don't worry. The insurance will take care of it.

I promise I didn't do it on purpose. I know I was still in 1st gear b/c I was trying to push that damn bee out of the car so I was using my right hand with my left on the steering wheel. I think the rim broke b/c the Lip hit the curb and just got stuck in it and had no give. but Damn I've never seen em break like that B4 either. Just let State Farm and Nissan Rip each other off, I just want my car fixed, but its not as bad as it seems. the bottom is scraped a bit but not too bad. No other body damage. what U see on the fender is sust from when it hit the curb and the air blew out of the tire.

Wow! Sorry to see this

Hey, what really bothers me is how the Borbet failed. I would've expected it to crack, but it looks like the spoke section has separated from the rim... That really sucks, especially if you going faster and hit a really deep pothole.

Are yo sure you didn't run over a landmine? >>

That kind of damage is pretty severe. I'm sure you were not going a mere 10 mph.

That is a sorry picture for sure!

Sorry to hear about this, man that really bites! It could have been worse, but that is of little comfort to you right now. Those rims look like they were made out of paper-maché or something, that is a very bizzare photo. What is the ETA on the repairs? Hang in there.

Well, I had the exact same Borbet Type Es --->

on my 95 SE. PIONEER almost bought them from me. But he decided to get new ones.
I drove my Borbets for over a year here in Boston, and I hit number of huge road holes, bumps, you name it. Rims looked like new. Never looked bent.
Borbet Type E is a very strong rim.
Any rims would get damaged if it was hit with enough impact.
And I even though PIONEER was going slow, he did hit it under bad angle and drove into the curb.

Wow...I feel your pain -- I did it 3 weeks ago...

But at least I wasn't swatting at a bee!

It had just started raining and I was making a right hand turn (more turn than curve, but not 90 deg) and right as I was finishing up the turn the car broke lose and slide towards the curb. My front right rim sorta riccocheted(sp?) off the curb. It wasn't as bad as yours -- my tie rid was fine, and rim is only scratched a little.

Here are my pics: http://www.fobart.net/ryan/car/oops/

Sorry to here about it though! Be careful out there!

Quick Update On Car Repairs

Thanks for all the replies guys, didn't know so many people would actually read the thread..
The Cost of Repairs is about $2150..
The parts that are ordered
Lower Control Arm
Spindle
Hub
Bearing
Strut
Tie Rod
Sway bar
Front/Rear Rim
1 Tire
Labor

Talked with the dealer this morning and they said the car should be done by friday depending on how long tirerack takes to ship the rims.

The Insurance company was kind enough to get me in a Caddy Seville to take some of my pains away. Nice car, All U can have in a car pritty much, Nice power. The only thing is people look at me and think what the Heck is this kid doing in a big *** caddy. For those of U who have seen me I'm a little skinny punk so Big car and Me well its a odd match, but I'm looking forward to my Max.. Pic of the caddy.
