Help with getting out little CD holder under head unit

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how I can remove that little holding space thats above the flip draw, but below your head unit. Usually I would just store 2-3 CD cases there, but I want to take it out and put a small light in the back. I think it would look cool. Any help is appreciated.

It has 2 screws on either side, so you need to disassemble your dash as if you were replacing the stereo.

size

would that CD holder be big enough for a 1-DIN Head Unit, say, an in-dash 6-Disc CD changer?

ya if you are keeping the head unit and putting the 6 disc cd changer below the head unit. the maxima's are made for 1 din or double din

Actually, the 3 slots (or 2 if you have a Double-DIN stereo) are complete re-arrangable. I used to have my deck on the bottom by the ashtray, and now it's on top under the clock....After i get my ISPRO Guages for my SC, it will be in the middle.

Oh. So you're saying the single din stereos have storage below them. Makes sense. I've only seen double dins though.
