1999 Cattman Ypipe has fallen apart. very loud

Has anybody else had this problem?

I installed my Cattman ypipe 3 years ago in early 1999. It is probably one of the first designs, -which I am sure has been improved upon greatly.

But...I should mention the Jet Hot coating chipped off within the first year of it being installed. (I have heard Jet Hot coatings are garbage anyways, that you want HPC (or HTC I can't remember) instead). Emails to Jet Hot on this issue went unanswered....

Ok, no problem it just looked bad with the coating chipped off, and hopefully it only chipped off the outside, and not the inside where it could plug up my converter....

Now, the braided metal portion of the ypipe has a hole in it, and is making some extremely annoying noises. It sounds like crap. It sounds like a ricer Civic with no muffler....he he he. It is so loud, its kind of funny.

Anybody have any recommendations for a replacement? Stillen ypipe maybe? I want to stay away from anything Jet Hot coated. By the way, this post is not meant to be a flame on Cattman on anything.

you still have a jet hot coated pipe, they stopped making those years ago for a reason, SS = much better.

The flex section is the weak pt of any Y-pipe. My OEM one was pretty rusted out. If the rest of the pipe is in good condition, you can have WSP or a muffler shop replace the flex section. Otherwise, WSP or Budget Exhaust make inexpensive, well-received Y-pipes. THat really sucks that it only lasted 3 years...

The cheaper way to go would be to have the flex joint repaired. I had the same problem with my Cattman pipe. I just recieved mine back from being repaired. The new flex section Cattman has, seems to be of very good quality. Atleast much better than the older ones. I have heard good things about Warpspeed too. I only know about Cattmans products since I haven't had the chance deal with Warpspeed as of yet. Those are two possibilities of where to have the pipe fixed.
