LOWERED my car, BIG PROBS

So i lowered my car today, started at 5 and figured i'd be all doen by 9 i had air tools and a friend and the bolts we all fairly new. I get the front two off in no time and start compressing the springs. i get them almost done and one of the compressors gets crossthreaded and locks up. i get the top off and have to move the other one to that side, tighten it and finally get it off. so now i have one compressor left and a lot more work great. we finally get one back together and grind the strut mount to make it fit the MODDED KYB's i got from cattman(more info to come). I get that one the car and start of the other one with ONE compressor. i used a quick grip to keep the spring semi compressed. i got it off and try to get it back together, finally we get it back together and go to put it on the car and i'm like i thought this one looked different and guess what IT WAS, CATTMAN SENT ME ONE MODIFIED KYB AND ONE NOT MODIFIED ONE. so now i'm ****ed, one compressor, now this. so i'm like i'm not letting this stop me, what he does to modify them does not look hard at all. luckily i have the tools to do it on the spot though, i grabbed the dremel and put the strut in the vise and got the tungsten carbide bit out and went to it reshaped(elongating) the holes to the dimensions that are required for 5th gen's. i had to move all 4 holes out about .25 inches away from each other. took about 30 minutes to do but i got them to just the right specs so that they fit tight and wouldn't even more and went back up and BAM it fit. but now it's 9:30pm and i'm tired and ****ed and call it a day and i'm gonna do the rear tomorrow BUT wow it looks nice and already handles SO much better i can't wait. my alignment isn't even off i think. i just had it done after teh accident and it still feels nice.

i'm gonan contact cattman tomorrow just to let him know and see if i can get a refund for half the difference between the 4th gen and 5th gne kybs(70/2=35) since i only got on modded one. but after seeing how easy it was maybe i have product ideas now thanks

Steve, which springs?
I think I'll have to go with Cattman modified AGX too, since it doesn't look like KYB or Tokico are coming out with 5th gen adjustables anytime soon.

i used progress springs, i like the ride so far, if you want to get a set of 4th gen agx's cheap off like ebay i would try and modify them for you, i did it once so it shouldn't be hard. you can get them for like 300 bucks on ebay if you catch a deal, save you 150+ and i could do the mod and see how hard it is to do all the time and maybe think about doing that too. let me know.

So how much are you charging for this Steve, I think I may be interested as well. But what about the brake lines, do the clips fit correctly or does that need modding as well? thanks

You were better off...

I remmember me and couple of my buddies changing out my suspension. I thought one of them knew what he was doing. I guess not really. Anyway, after working whole eve on the car, we finally were finished. Being all excited, I finally took it for a test drive and as soon as I hit the first little pot hole, I heard BUMMM BAMMM...I was like WTF? The ride was horrible and I was feeling like someoen is hitting me on my head. Come to find out, we installed all the springs upside down!!!

So the next morning, I had to redo it all over again and even made it to a Courtesy max meet, for those who rememmember!

thank you, Bill.
As for changing out your suspension...do it with 1 other person, an expert. Too many hands in the pie becomes a problem, and also........do not overuse air tools. The torque wrench is also your friend.

ya i've done this several tiems before and i torqued everything down and had a friend that knew what he was doing. it shouldn't have been hard but between teh compressor and the strut it was.
