Turbo and S/C guys...tell me what you think of this.

I saw this on ebay the other day and thought about asking the real experts. What do you guys think?

I think thats the rare HoneyWell Turbodyne(??) electronic SC.....I've never seen any actual posted numbers of the output, but his 30hp gain(if true) isn't bad for $400!! but its basically a "high-tech" version of the E-ram Electonic SC, but I'm not entirely sure! as far as I know they don't make them anymore though...but one thing they sound annoying as hell, makes the car sound sound like a vaccum cleaner!

The way it looks to me is that they are using a turbo housing and an electric motor to spool it up in-line with a CAI to ram air into the intake. Sounds like a novel idea to me, just don't know if the results he is posting are accurate.

Like I said, I think this thing is placed in line of the CAI and therefore the filter would remain in the same place.

it's the same exact idea of an "electric supercharger." who wants to waste 400+ to find out if it works though?

Hehehe, these are the types of things that you and your gearhead friends speculate about on long road trips.. A friend and I had a similar idea.. I think the only downside is well, if you're going to go this far you might as well go with a turbo. And you'd have to keep a huge 48v boat battery or two in your trunk to power this thing.

Nice thing about it though you only boost when you're flooring it.

jamie, this theroy has been around for awhile now. I have never seen one that works or the output is better than the input. For example the amount of eneryit would take to run that thing would cost much $$$. He says 48v, but how long can 48 volts run that thing at full bore. And if you have ever priced a hi-output battery they are not cheap. I am sure a Turbo or SC would be more cost effective and lees R&D.

But that's my 2 cents and +1 for me

I was thinking the same thing. Otherwise, we all would probably have one of these as opposed to s/c or other boost methods. I was just looking at it and found it kinda interesting on the write up.
