my first post, and some questions :)

I would just like to start off by saying hello to everyone!

I picked up a 98 Maxima GXE 5sp. over the weekend, and I'm loving it. I'm of course thinking about making modifications to it right away I searched around on the forum and it seems like the intake and the y-pipe is the way to go in the beginning? The Budget Y-Pipe seems to be the deal for me, however I went to budgetexhaust.com and saw only the exhaust, not the y-pipe. How much performance gains can I expect to see from the y-pipe/intake combo? I did use the search tool, but maybe you guys can fill me in a little more

Ah that makes sense. Do you recommend getting this installed by a shop, or do it myself? Seems that from what I've read, I'll get about +20hp by doing the intake y-pipe/exhaust combo, does this seem accurate?

Welcome Yomie

Budget calls it an F-Pipe vs Y-Pipe, same thing. Actually looks more like an F than a Y anyway. They cost $170 shipped from Budget, T-304 Stainless Steel, the deal of the century. Same with the B-Pipe it is actually called an intermediate pipe by most companies in the exhaust industry. Don't let the terminology get to ya.

As far as the intake, I have a Place Racing Cold Air Intake, (PR CAI) but Warpspeed makes a good one for less money if you can get one.

Have fun, do lots of reading there is a wealth of information on the org to learn, just pick a topic and research it.

If you are handy at all around cars do it yourself, much more satisfaction than getting a shop to do it. Hardest part is getting the old one off. If you can gets the nuts to break loose on the manifold the rest is easy. You do need a long extension and a universal joint to get a couple of them.

just to be absolutely sure, is this what I need?

If I understand correctly this only replaces parts of the exhaust system, do I need to replace all parts in order for this to be effective?
Thanks guys
