My impressions, Place Racing Motor Mounts, ACT clutch, and more (very long!!!)
First off PR motor mounts are not for the tame hearted. If you're an enthusiast and understand that performance comes with penalties then you'll love these mounts. They do vibrate the car at idle, much more so than with the stock mounts. This is the worst aspect of these mounts. My TPS needs to be adjusted anyway (jerky acceleration symptoms) and when I do this I'll also turn the idle up just a little. I think if you set the idle ~800-850 rpms it'll be more liveable, still not up to stock vibration levels. When engaging first gear the whole drivetrain feels locked down. Its really stiff, and I like that a lot. When driving around town (highways and local streets) the whole front end feels more solid. During hard cornering and aggressive throttle inputs the front end is now more solid than ever.
I'll also like to say that I'm the proud owner of a ACT clutch kit. Its an awesome clutch. This is the third clutch kit in my car and by far the best. The previous clutch kit was put together by Avalon Racing, and it included a Powertone pressure plate, and McCleod (sp?) racing disk. No pucks, but this kit didn't do well. I cant blame Avalon because at the time of installation I was stuck dealing with a tranny shop that did a poor job on the installation. And I had issues with it ever since it was installed, nonetheless it gave me about 40K miles of service. The ACT clutch is simply a must for the enthusiast. It grabs well, engages smoothly (maybe the mounts help) and feels right at home with the right amount of pedal pressure. Also installed were a UR flywheel and underdrive pulleys. The guys at the shop loved the flywheel. They admired how light it was. I admire the new character my car has assumed. When I rev-match to downshift into corners that whole drivetrain feels like a precise tool. Throttle inputs are almost telepathic with the slightest changes on the go pedal adjusting my car's attitude. Overall shifting is much improved and downshifting is more of a joy now. I have not noticed any decrease in driveability like some complain about.
I just wanted to share with some of the folks here the ups and downs of some of the mods available out there. I encourage others to chime in, it will bring more opinions to the table and make some decisions easier for others.
One last thing, I had a Stillen y (2 piece version) installed over the weekend and I can hear the bees in the can noise when under a load. Through normal driving its fine, but it does get annoying when I want to get on it. I know this has been discussed in the past, but my search turned up a bunch of posts on header wrap which I've been told is bad for longevity. Can WSP sell me one of the newer lined flex sections and I have it installed at a local shop??? (feel free to PM or email me suggestions.)

Glad to hear your comments. I don't have the mounts but swear by the ACT II street set up. I have that too and love it. Took a little while to get used to engagement but now it's seamless. You might want to call WarpspeedPerformance.com and ask about the lined flex section. I think they all use slightly different lengths so it may be more hassle to fix than just replace. I just installed an Warpspeed mandrel bent aluminized y pipe and would definitely recommend it. No odd noises what-so-ever. BTW, where does your clutch start to grab? Mine used to grab real close to the floor but after a few hundred miles and a trip or two to the track it now engages a little more comparable to stock - at first it was all or nothing, now it's a little more tame and starts to grab close to the floor but has a little more travel before it's completely engaged.
Does the annoying "Maxima Clutch Groan" of the stock clutch go away with the ACT replacement? If so, I may get replace my clutch before it completely gives away. I am already getting chatter when the car is cold (which curiously goes away with some HIGHWAY driving on my daily commute). And I can feel some friction in moving parts when I push the clutch in and hear a squeaking sound while the clutch pedal is in motion (up or down).

great post 2ndmax... i also HIGHLY recommend the act clutch.
At first, the clutch was like an on/off switch. It would grab right off the floor... there was no slipping or in between. I'd say right aroudn 1000 miles it got very nice, much more like stock engagement. 4000 miles later I'm still chirping 3rd gear with HEAVY 18" chrome tsw revos. You have to see the smile on my face everytime I do it.

I got a deal on the UR Flywheel
Initially I was going to get the Fidanza flyhwheel but I found it they never even made a flywheel for the 4th gen Maxima. They had part #'s on their website and prices, but they never actually made the part. Oh well, I got screwed and ended up paying $520 for the UR flywheel. I also got the UR UDP at the same time so I kinda got a deal.

I dont know which clutch you got from ACT but if you got the Stage I like I do, the pedal is only going to get softer and softer just like stock and you will enjoy it trust me. I chirp my tires in 4th gear, feels great. How much did you pay for your alloy flywheel and where did you get it from?

Well from what I can tell.........
Since installation I've put about 1500 miles on the car. And although I've done other mods I can feel the difference with the flywheel. First gear winds out really quickly now. The performance from the flywheel is felt more in the lower gears. First, second, and third feel noticeably quicker. The car also decelerate's more quickly too. When I let off the gas there's a noticeable difference when coasting down from speed. What I notice most and like most is the improved shifting that the flywheel affords me. The slightest throttle inputs make differences. When I'm braking into a corner and heal toe downshift the its extra smooth. With my stock flywheel I'd clutch in and even a blip of the throttle sometimes wouldn't be enough to bring the rev's up so I'd have to do a second blip or use more throttle. With the UR flywheel its almost telepathic.
PS: The shop that did the work (tranny specialists) really loved the flywheel. They said that this particular unit was one of the lightest flywheels they've ever seen.

How's that U/R flywheel? I thought about one before, but the price was kinda high. I guess its hard to tell since you added so many things at once.
