A/F guage question

A/F guage question
Just installed A/F guage. But was wondering if it's suppose to be running lean to stoich? Cause when I had it hooked up under the hood instead of the ecu it read rich to stoich and when i let go of the gas, it went lean. Which one is correct?? Or did I connected in the wrong place on the ecu?? Anyone??
