Max.. Accident :( -new bumper options?
Hey people, I’m having another sad day, I was in a very strange but minor accident, I don’t know how to explain it.. bottom line without consulting someone who knows a lot about the law, I won’t know who’s fault it was.. I think it was probably mine.. but everyone else says it wasn’t.. Any way my maxima needs a new front bumper, does anyone know where I can get one? My car was scratchless. I’m telling you, her paint is in better condition them some 2k2’s. I’m currently unemployed, but know I’m gonna do anything to just get her fixed up.. what are my options for a new front bumper, and where can I get a good deal on a quality bumper?
Thanks
Thanks
Dude I had an accident like 4 and a half hours ago today. The front bumper on my 97 max will also need to be replaced. I will look under it tomorrow to know for sure, but it does not appear that the actual metal bumper was bent. I guess the styrofoam absorbed much of the impact. I almost avoided this accident. It was a near-miss. If only I had missed. But anywho, I know what you're going through and I reply to this email to get it at the top of the list again so maybe someone will see it again. I have considered replacing the thing myself. It's not brain surgery. If I put on an alternator myself, shouldn't I be able to replace the bumper, or actually the bumper COVER, which I think is what needs to be replaced? Who can tell me this? Also, I the turning signal needs replacing. The orange fixture needs replacing. I think it must have disentigrated. Or it could be down in the cover somewhere. I'll know tomorrow. Anybody know how hard a task it is to replace this thing and the light fixtures? I have a Haynes repair manual and I can follow directions well
Yeah sounds like you guys both only need a front bumper cover and possbily foam. I did a swapping of bumpers on my car and i gotta tell you that it was very easy. When u get the new bumper just take a look at all the holes(mounting points) and go from there, i never had a manual so thats how i did it.Thats how i figured out how to reomve it. Took me about and hour to do.
PS i got in a little accident too not too long ago(less than a week) it was my fault, cliped the back of a camry. Luckly i only got sractes and small dents, no broken paint! So yeah....i feel your pain.

What you could do is get the bumper remanufactured. My nissan dealer did it, it was covered by insurance. It costed $370.40 canadian (about 240 US). If you negotiate you might get a better price. It looked like new afterwards.

If I was gonna get a new bumper I would pay an extra $100 and get the Sorona bumper found at http://custommaxima.com .

Hey Minimalmaxima, i did get time to do research on the topic after my accident... looking around for the best prices payed off, i tried courtesy nissan and they had it.. i was quoted 151 dollars for a new front bumper cover, that is genuine nissan. i've only heard bad stuff about the cheap knockoff ones on ebay. and i'm pretty sure any body shop is going to quote you about 300 for paint, prime, (and i asked for a flex agent in the prim too
) and taking off the bumper is easy..
take of the grill, 3-4 screws under the grill, 5 on the bottom of the bumper, and three on each side, take a look at it, its easy, i also disucessed this on maximaforum.com.. do a search there.. and if you run into any problems pm me.. peace..

You mean you would just get the front Sarona bumper? It's hideous with just the front bumper. It has to have at least the rear as well and it still would look kinda funny to me without the skirts.

I'm thinking of getting the Octane 34 Body kit. It comes with a front and rear bumper with side skirts.
