Rattaching badges...

The "I" fell off of the back of my trunk, as did the Nissan hamburger, and I'd like to reattach it now that the emblem is gone. What's the best way to go about this? There's a chance I may want to remove the letters later on, so I'd rather not affix the letter permanently, but of course I don't want it to fall off again. Any ideas?

Thanks...

just shave the rest of them off

or you can try using double-sided tape that is cut to the shape of the emblems...i think that'll work, but you may want to wait until someone who has done it before passes through

Thanks, I think I have seen that suggested before but I wanted to make sure. If double-sided tape is the answer, what brand/type is good? Is it removable later?

I'd rather leave the "Maxima" there, for now at least, because I think the 95/96 looks dumb without anything on the back (97-99 look cool though). I HATE MY TAILLIGHTS.

and I think 3M double-sided tape is the most talked about and i guess successful tape that people have used...try searching a little bit, you might find some threads that people talk which tape they used...i think they have used 3M to hold up front lips, so obviously it's gotta be kinda strong, i think

Use 3M but make sure it's the adhesive meant for that application (try searching for autobody shop suppliers online). Remember, it has to be weather resistant and the 3M double sided at Wal-mart is foam.

I have to agree with you on that one.

Go to Advanced AutoParts and pick up a roll of "double-sided molding tape". It is the closest thing to the factory adhesive I could find (to put my badge back on after I realized it looked horrible with it off )

yeah i agree too. i wanted to put the "MAXIMA" back on my 96 and take off the nissan emblem but i seem to have lost all of the letters

as for putting the embelems back on....go to Track Auto and buy 3M Emblem and Badge Adheisive. its just a tube of glue. a lot easier to use than double sided tape. but double check to make sure it isnt completely permanent. i cant say for sure whether it is or is not.

Thanks for all the advice, guys.. I think I will look at that glue.

Anyone want to sell me their "I", or do I have to go to the junkyard?
