What does my Maxima need at 60K miles?
What does my Maxima need at 60K miles?
I’m brand new to this site and it is great! Although I’ve searched around, I didn’t find exactly what I was looking for, so I hope someone here can help me. (please excuse a newbie if I missed it)
I have a ’97 GLE with 59K miles. Unfortunately I’ve lost the little booklet that came with the car listing Nissan’s recommended maintenance schedule at various set mileage’s (60K, 75K, 90K, etc.). My dealer of course wants to sell me a “package” of service stuff they’ve put together which supposedly needs to be done at to the Maxima at 60K miles (it’s a generic list of “inspect this, check that, replace this” kind of stuff and it is exactly the same list of things as used at all their Nissan and Chevrolet and Dodge and Honda dealerships, so I know it can’t be per manufacture’s instructions for any brand of car!
). I’m using the dealer because it is part of an extended warranty my wife got with the car and the car is now in the shop now due to a bad cam sensor.
My question is:
What specific maintenance items does Nissan recommend for a ’97 Maxima at 60,000 miles? Is it time to change the fuel filter? Time to flush coolant? Should the brake fluid be replaced now? I know it can’t hurt to do any of those things, but I don’t want to spend any more money than I need to at this time – but I want to do what Nissan says needs to be done.
I would really appreciate if someone could help with a list of Nissan’s factory recommended maintenance items for a Maxima from 50K (may have missed something) up to 100K miles. Thanks in advance.

60k is the major service interval
Fuel filter
Spark plugs
Oil & filter
inspect belts
inspect/change coolant
inspect/change auto trans fluid
inspect/service brakes
inspect/change/service everything that you can...
Get yourself a Haynes Manual. You can do all of these maintenance items yourself. None of them are hard if you have tools and can work a wrench.

Okay, that covers service at 60K miles. Is there anything other than oil/filter changes between 60K and 100K?
