URGENT: Will a 95 MAFS work for a 97?

It seems that the 95 MAFS has an extra clip for it (some other sensor?)
and I want to install this part ASAP because I want my baby to work!

Right now, I figure I'll just not plug it in...

All help is appreciated!

On the same harness? You can try it but something probably has to go there...

Look in a Chilton's

Actually, the yard gave me everything from the top of the air-box to the accordian section that attaches to the Throttle Body...

Thanks for the help!

How much was it? The extra clip is for the ambient temp sensor.

FLO_BOY: I know this is a bit off-topic but I noticed from your sig that you have the Budget y-pipe & no pop charger & aftermarket muffler.
  • What do you think of the noise level from the new y-pipe?
  • Does it "drone" when your cruising at constant speed up a slight grade?
  • Do you hear bees-in-the-can sound in a certain RPM range?

Where is this other clip are you talking about the one that goes inside the air box? And how much did you pay for it?

I think that the 95-96 can work with each other,97 is alone,98-99 does work with each other two,the best way to try that, don't worry this will not harm your ecu,if you max wasn't idling good then you should get another MAF

I paid $145 CDN (or, about $95US) with a 3-month warranty...

some answers:

1) Not bad...in fact, you really can't notice it (I can, but, others can't)
2) No, not at all
3) I thought I did before, but, the sounds sorta vanished

I think you're in the GTA -- if you're downtown and want to hear my car, let me know...

best,

Thanks for your feedback.

Yeah, I live in Markham. Maybe one day we'll hook up at a GTA Max Meet. I'm not sure if I'm free for the Sun. June 9 meet that Ohboiya's coordinating. I still have another unconfirmed event to sort out. Are you heading to that?

Yes, the other clip is IN the airbox.
See my post above for how much I paid.

That's just a temp sensor, not used in models after 96, I remember reading people taking out their airbox in 95-96 when they put their intakes in and just left it hanging, and since you have a 97, you shouldn't of had one in your car so don't worry about it. That's a good price!

Well, I give up...

I don't know what else to do...

I have a problem that seems VERY common, yet, when I try all of the common fixes, NOTHING SOLVES MY PROBLEM...

what i've done so far:

1) changed my fuel filter
2) changed my coolant temperature sensor
3) changed my MAFS
4) changed my PCV
5) cleaned my throttle body

I have three more options:
1) clean my IACV
2) check my TPS
3) duct-tape the hell out of that accordian part, in case there's a leak.

PLEASE -- ANYONE -- ANY MORE IDEAS????

I think I'm gonna cry

ALL HELP IS APPRECIATED

Re: Well, I give up...

Christ Man!!! You have done lots, maybe instead of buying new parts you should swap with somebody just to establish what the problem is. I know with an old mitsubishi car of mine the TPS would make it stall, even when I was driving at like 120km/h and then kick in or just stall, and the MAFS was done also. SO maybe the TPS? no clue man. Unless the used MAFS you picked up is no good. You're not getting any codes at all?
