crankshaft removal

it says to remove ring gear cover and secure ring gear so the crankshaft will not rotate....welllllll my book sucks and has very little illustrations ...so i dont have a clue what ring gear it's talking about ..are they talking about the camshaft covers, because they have a place for a wrench to be placed but i thought that was only to remove the sprockets that drove the camshaft...help?

Ah removing the crankshaft? You mean cranksaft pulley or bolt? You have to take out the whole engine to remove the crankshaft

Put the socket on a breaker bar and wedge the bar against the grouns under the car. Blip the starter (But dont start the car) to break the bolt loose.

if you have access to large impact tools, use the 3/4" impact gun ... no breaker bar needed.

3/4"??!?! it's not a 18 wheeler erica. a 1/2" would do it...go get a IR2131..i think it's like 500lbs in reverse. if that gun doesn't get it out..it's not coming out.
