Its time for a new set of tires and I found a great deal on some 245/40/18's. I have 18" konig Monsoons and have searched around and it seems as though it is OK but not recommended to put such a large tire on a 7.5" rim. I'm sure that some of you have done this and im looking for an up close picture to see how far the tire is going to bulge out from the rim.

??? I have 235/40's on a 18X8

 

225 is ideal for a 7.5" rim in terms of maximizing contact patch.

7.5" is the minimum suggested rim size for 235.

8.0" is ideal for 235.

 

18 x 8.5 with Pirelli P 0s 245/40's...

 

Euro max do you rub with 245/40 18 and the 18x8.5 tires? if you dont reply I think I am staying with 18's, I miss my 18's, but I just love the way my car picks up with these lighter stock 15's. Also what offset do you have on those arrows? 40?

Also on that 18x7.5 wheel You can do it but it might bulge a bit, on my sig is an upclose pic but is not the 7.5 Look someone here on the org has 17x7.5 245/45 17 tires, I personally asked him thru email and thats what he has.

Offset is 35, but I wish I would of go with 38mm, but I don't have any rubbing at all, only maybe rear rubbing fender with many people in the back driving on the hwy from time to time. No front rubbing though. And handling on 18x8.5 w/ 245 Pirelli's is unreplaceable !

 

See with 40offset the wheels tucked in all the way no rubbing what so ever, but explain right quick this offset stuff, it confuses me a bit. What is the difference with 38 vice your 35? that will make the rim go where tuck inward or outward? whats wrong with 35 you have on your car?

 

35mm sticks out a little as far as front, not that noticiable but still...38 is better, it would be more tucked inward but then who knows, you might have some rubbing on the front with 245's.

 

I got you now I quickly did a search for offset but nothing? So in my opinion 40 is ideal, I mean the wheel tucks in perfectly with out the need to roll the fender, but then again your right we are adding an additional .5 to the wheel thats why I want to go back with 18x8. But Ill do some looking around, I did like my set up. but if not then Ill go with 18x8.5. Thanks for answering the question.

 

So, a 235/40/18 is the widest that i can go on these 7.5 Konig Monsoons, correct?

Any of you guys have an idea of what the offset on these rims would be? I also want to bring out the rears a little am am trying to decided whether i should get the 5mm or 10mm+ H&R Spacers.

 

i have that setup and with bf goodrich g-force ta kd's some of the stiffest sidewalled tires you cna get. i'll post pics when i get home from work. they look great and you can't curb rash you rims easy. you might hve trouble getting themmounted and hve to sign a waiver where you do get them mounted but i say get them

 

Going 245 on 18X7.5 is risky. 235 on 18X7.5 is already pushing it.

Have you ever mountedlow pro tires on a rims? The 35's are a nightmare. I have 225/40/18 on a 18x7.5 rims and they where a nightmare to do. 235 on 7.5 rim I won't even attempt. 2 of my friends run different shops and I know they would flat out refuse to mount 245 on a 7.5 rim let alone if it's a 35-40 series tire. I wouldn't recommend doing it.

 

Town Fair Tire in springfield mass did it for me, i talked directly to the manager and he said they would attempt it and only for 85 bucks mounted and balanced. i was like wow,let's do it. he made me sign a waiver that if they scratched them it wasn't thier fault. everywhere wanted me to, no biggie. they didn't sell them to me they shouldn't be liable for a risky mounting. he said it took 3 guys but they got them on and didn't scratch them at all. i'm very happy and i would recommend them to anyone in the area for mounting and tires.

 

Wow...i wouldn't never let anyone mount my rims unless they will can guarantee not to scrath them.

 

i got laughed out of like 8 places before anyone would even touch them. i can see where they are coming from, they didn't sell me the rims OR tires and it's a VERY risky job. like 3 places said they would think about doing it if i signed a waiver and no where woudl do it with no waiver. i understood and just wanted them mounted. if i bought the tires there and needed them put on the rims they would have to guarantee the job, but technically they were taking a big risk on me if i didn't. one rim was 250 a piece and so were the tires for a 85 dollar mounting job. i was ok with it, being a business man and all.
