are you talking about where it says nissan and 3000????

I did not sand mine, just painted it and let it cook in the sun to harden it. I used hi-temp paint.

I thought the valve cover was under that?

I thought the valve cover is aluminum (sp) ?

I wouldn't sand....just clean it really good and use engine paint or high temp paint. If you insist on sanding...a brillo pad may work best. Remember, it's only plastic.

PM alphaoenz (he did his like 5 times)... thanks to me I screwed up his valve cover...

We did fix it, for the most part, by using a fairly fine grit sand paper, but it was one of those situations where we just took whatever we had and went at it .

I suggest cleaning / sanding / cleaning again / base paint / paint

You need the correct paint. Go to your local hobby store. Buy paint made for plastic models. The brand I got was Testor. Do few light coats and then follow it with one heavy coat.
