Recall....06/06/02

You guys probably already know this...but

Nissan just called me and updated an earlier question of my clutch whining....and said to get my car to the dealer for a Traverse Link (Sp?) recall.

Notices will be going out soon.

Anyone know if all 2k2s are being recalled or just certain build dates? Do the dealers already have the necessary parts on hand for the fix?

No no, he wasn't talking about a clutch recall, although that may yet come as you and I well know. He was referring to a recall on the transverse links, which are suspension pieces up front. They don't make dying squirrel noises. I think.

That is why I think it is making that knocking sound that you can feel through the steering wheel.

Do you think the Nissan will notice the H&Rs that I am installing this weekend when I go do that traverse link recall?

Called two dealers in my area (Upstate SC) and both of them denied any recall. So then I called Nissan North America and gave them my VIN number and they said that I was affected. I have a build of 10/01. NNA said that it doesn't matter if you have recieved a letter or not because you can go to the dealer and give them your VIN number and they can look it up. If you are affected them they will fix it. If not then, lucky you. The only downside to going to the dealer before you get the letter is they might not have the parts in stock.
Peace

I have been wondering what exactly the transverse link is? So I did some research and here is what I found:

More commonly, a narrow transverse link (sometimes called a track rod) locates the lower end of the strut in the transverse direction and a separate member called a radius rod locates the assembly in the longitudinal direction. However, the anti-roll bar can serve as the longitudinal link and thereby eliminate the separate radius rod.

Does anybody have any clue as to what this is talking about, cuz it don't make no sense to me.
