Need VE30DE info from a FSM

I want to compare the valve springs from the VE30DE to the specs listed for the SR20DE. In theory SR20 valve springs/retainers would allow the VE to rev as high as 7500rpm without floating the valves. This means one can get more agressive *topend* performance cams. Also a SR20 intake runners welded onto a VE upper intake collector should be worth another 5-20whp too. .

hmmmm..you'll have to go into detail on the intake runner thing next time i'm talking to you on IM..
any know if the Z valve springs would have the same effect as the SR20s? i know i can get a set w/retainers for like $40..i havent checked on the SR20 prices though..

I will try to find more for you Ari. All I could find in my chiltons, was in the torque specs, says the squareness is 1.059in on the VE. I dont think that will help you much, but I will try and find out some more for you, I appreciate you looking into this for the VE, wouldnt that be great if the VE could use SR20 stuff, it already can use Z stuff, hmmm...best of both worlds

I have the FSM....

I'd be glad to help out, but I'm not sure exactly what info is needed. What is needed? Pics? Diagrams? Numbers? Specs? What exactly do I need to look up in the FSM?

I need someone to post the valve specs

Like the length, head diameter, stem diameter for both intake/exhaust valves.
SR20DE:
head diameter: intake 34.0-34.2mm, exhaust 30.0-30.2
length: intake 101.19-101.61, exhaust 102.11-102.53
stem diameter: intake 5.965-5.980, exhaust 5.945-5.960

Hmm it might appear that one can use the SR20DE valve springs. The exhaust valves are basically around the same dimentions. WHere as the intake valves are 9mm longer but since the esss areeee twenty valve springs are 4mm longer it should work fine. Now I wonder how they would fit a VG hmmmmmmmm .

Hmm I've studied the specs and it appears the SR20DE valve springs/retainers should fit without much drama. Also the exhaust valves for the VE and SR20 are almost the same size. The difference in the intake valve is probably due to the design of the highport head on the SR20. This would be a great mod for anyone removing the heads to fix the VTC. Also an ISKY 260 or 270* grind simular to the VG cams would work great.

It would give you 50hp LOL, there shouldn't be any difference. Outside that you can rev higher.

Probably great. But it's gotta be hard to make the intake cam when it's varible. If the VE motor is working well, I would fully expect it to make some serious #s due to the varible intake timing and dual stage manifold on the 5-sp versions.

Your tach is way off, the engine is limited to 6500-6700rpm. My se-r tach is 500-600rpm off.

Re: hmmmm

I have a 160k mile SR20DE in my garage. I think the valve springs/retainers are good. If I ever pull the head the first $50 MO takes them.
