I just broke my knock sensor trying to replace it! Please help!!!
My knock sensor was bad so I bought a new one and was trying to replace it today. I got the bolt out but when I tried to remove the old knock sensor from its socket the old sensor broke off with a big piece still in the socket!
I can't get that piece out to put the new one in! Can I drive my car without it? If so, what will happen? Someone please help. I'm gonna keep trying to get that piece out.

Noticed that you did not mention the "U" clip. It's a really tiny guage piece of metal that will utterly prevent you from removing the KS from the harness. It is small, but it is there. Once removed, the KS just pulls out of the harness socket with the ultimate in ease. Hope that helps...
on mine there was a metal clip that was securing both parts together, make sure you take that out first. if you have no luck at all, your last resort may be to solder the wire directly to the pin that sticks out of the sensor, or to buy a new harness.
Go here and start at step number 8

Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! . I had the instructions that mentioned the u -shaped clip but I didn't get it until you just explained it! I just removed the clip and the old sensor just slipped out. Thanks alot! I just got the new sensor in now so all I gotta do is put it back. Any ideas on how to do this without putting my hands in there? My hands are big. I got the bolt out by using a hanger and bending it so it was like a hook on the end but I don't think that will work to put it back in. Thanks again.

i just posted a thread on how i did it a few minutes ago, but try to get your left hand in there and position the bolt over it, it worked for me (my right wouldn't fit cuz the thumb was on the wrong side and it kept hitting things).
