Race w/a 85 Corvette Manual coming up...

My dad just bought an 85 Corvette with a manual transmission. I am driving him 2 hours to pick it up with my Max on wednesday. Knowing my dad, he will want to race me to see what his vette will do. Looks like I will be getting my a$$ handed to me for the first time in my max. I was looking on the web, and the 85 with a manual does the 1/4 in 14.1 and 0-60 in 5.7. They were only rated at 230hp but 335tq. I read they dyno around 215hp/290tq at the wheels.

I think my only hope is that he takes it easy on the car at first!

You have 2 days to buy and install a nitrous kit of your choice.

Corvettes were good performers even in the 80's when performance was slow by today's standards. One of the very few Chevy's I would own. Awesome cars!!

Once you get your butt handed to you... go get a nitrous kit (in agreement w/ Kev).

I got one and haven't regretted it for a second. You'll give dad a run for his $$ then, and do it with more comfort and style, as well.

Well, the race never took place. When I got to his house, he had 2 tool chests that he wanted to take with him. I did not want 2 metal tool boxes moving around in my trunk so we took his Park Avenue Ultra.

If I would have raced, it would have been a slaughter! That car is crazy fast, especially for "supposedly" only having 230 hp. It really feels like a mid 13 sec car.
