Warpspeed VQ30 Cali-spec Y-Pipe??????? Anybody?
Warpspeed VQ30 Cali-spec Y-Pipe??????? Anybody?
Does anybody know the answer to this question. Is there a y-pipe at warpspeed for the 2000/2001 Cali-spec Maximas????
I have been asking Dallas since back in March and still can't get an answer. Everybody say such positive things about this company, but I can't seem to get them to answer this question. In the last thread about the 2K2 Y-pipes, I asked the question of Dan from Warpspeed and he never responded there. Their web site has listed it as available for a couple months, but nobody seems to want to sell me one.
I keep offering to swap my Cattman for the WSP and compare noise-level and power and fitment and I just can't get them to bite. Never had it so tough to give $300 to somebody else.

Warpspeed
I spoke to Dallas last week Friday and he was going to install and fit one on a 2001. He told me to call back monday and see if it went ok. I called tuesday and they said they are going to get the parts in by the end of this week to put together some. They said they were taking names and will call as they get the pipes put together. I have not got my call yet, am still waiting.
Here's my first email exchange with Dallas...
His email suggests he was almost ready with this back in March...I really liked this exchange of emails and made it clear I was willing to buy, so I can only assume that they, almost four months later, still haven't been able to product a 5th gen y-pipe. WSP gets such positive reviews from everybody who deals with them, I'm trying to be positive here and give them a shot.

When should I order? Bees-in-a-can is my only day-to-day gripe with my Maxima today (yes, 2001 Cali spec).

Is your Maxima a 2001? If so it will be next week before I have any stainless, we just got our flanges in for that design and I am working on them now. One thing I can assure you of, there will be no bees in a can and we have a 2001 available to us on a daily basis. (we use a different bracket by the way)

Dallas,
I've been reading all the good things you guys are working on for those of us with the 5th gen Maxima. Looking forward to the SFC, X-Brace, and radial arms in the future. I have a Cattman Y-Pipe (not sure if that's who you're bashing on your web site
or if it is Stillen). I am happy with the performance change, but the bees-in-a-can sound continues after 500+ miles as well as the, welded on bracket for the stock hanger in the middle of the pipe was too short to actually hang without significant work.
I am willing to buy your T304, TIG-welded pipe if I really can count on solving these manufacturing flaws/weaknesses in my current y-pipe. I will be happy to post a rave review on Maxima.org if you solve these problems for me. I appreciate your reply...please, also, let me know how soon you can ship if I order today as well as what email address I can paypal the payment to.

I'm curious, Michael. Why would you want to swap your Cattman Y-pipe for a WSP? Are you having flex section or fitment problems with the Cattman?

Also, the hook for the hanger in the middle of the pipe is not long enough and caused me to jerry-rig it to attach it properly. Dallas seems to think that he will completely eliminate bees-in-a-can and has a hook that fits right. I'm pretty sure Brian has fixed his noise issue with the new lined flex sections too, but I thought I'd give Warpspeed a shot at proving their higher performance gains claim.

How long have you had your Cattman Y-pipe?

That's really bizarre, Michael. I've had my Cattman Y-pipe for year now and I haven't had any bees-in-a-can sound. And the fitment was perfect when I installed it. All I can figure is that the Y-pipe you got came from a different production run than the one I got.

Still no Cali spec out of WSP, I've called today and Dallas said that ther "donor"(whatever it means) car is being repaired for unrelated problems and they can't do anything until it's back and they have no idea how long it's going to take - he said at least another two weeks before things start moving again.
<rant>
I'm sort of disappointed that they didn't tell me upfront that they didn't have the pipes made and kept telling me that it'll ship "in couple of days" for three weeks and promised to call me back about 4 times and never did.
</rant>
I realize that they have some issues beyound their control to deal with but being more communicative about it and letting nice lady who answers the phone know what's going on so she doesn't lead people on would be helpful.

My advise to Cali-spec Max owners? Vote with your dollars. Cancel your order with WSP and buy a Stillen Y-pipe or a Cattman Y-pipe. There's nothing more motivating to a manufacturer than lost revenue!
The thing that kills me is that the sort of problems/delays they are having are perfectly understandable. If Dallas or Dan would just get on .org and post the situation, we'd all understand. I don't get why they have failed to respond to emails, return phone calls, and never reply to a thread of this nature despite the fact that, at least, Dan is clearly on .org periodically.
All I want is a firm date on when they will be shipping the 5th gen Cali-spec SS TIG-welded Y-pipes. If a bend needs adjustment, do it, get the parts, build Y-pipes and start shipping. If it's going to take a week or a month, they should tell us, and not keep saying it'll be "soon" or "a couple of weeks".

and it's only $50 more expensive right now..hmm
I can relate to this. I have had a B-pipe on order for about 3 weeks. It's only a $50 sale instead of a $300 sale, but if you're going to advertise your product for sale, at least make it buyable. I called one day a couple weeks ago and they said that the b-pipe were being done today, what's your number.... lip service. For people that talk alot of smack about their competitors, they certainly need to speed up their processes a bit. Oh, I have a 2K1 Cali spec Y-pipe from Cattman, no bees, no fitment issues, or flex-liner problems, *knocks on formica covered wood*
