yeah and i love how they feel! wait, nevermind, hell noooooooo!! there's no way i'm going to pay that much to have springs installed. $475 is what a shop is quoting me to have the maxspeeds put in. uh, i'm not ASE Certified but i'm not an imbecile... what a rip off.

what kind of shops do this kind of work (without the outrageous labor) and how the hell do i find them?

i have ZERO tools except for my handy black&decker toolkit. i'm about 2000 miles away from home. there's no way i can handle a project like this here. i also live in an apartment above a business (pizza shop) downtown. the parking lot is always busy as hell and they'd be pist at me if i had my car in pieces all over the place. parking is already limited as it is.

at this point, i am so down to even pay $200!

but of course, i am cool with it being more affordable.

$475 is RIDICULOUS. Even the dealership wouldn't charge you that much.....

If you don't have tools got to the automotive store and some of them actually rent tools its not that hard if its your firs time it will probably take you like an hour pre wheel, but 4 hours of work for 500$. I would never pay any of those dirty mechanics a penny, plus its more fun doing it yourself, just make sure to get your wheel alligned after you install them, you dont want an uneven wear.

At about 25 miles to the gallon and the approximate $1.60/gallon for supreme gasoline, that's upwards of $150 just for gas (depending on how hard you drive)...me thinks this is no longer looking like a deal.

I'm a Kirkland guy, though, so 21 Central is my choice steakhouse and a bottle of Cain V should do just find with my Filet. Hell, for that I'll eliminate the entire $200 fee.

Dinner might cost a bit over $200, but hey...that's the price you pay for a good steak and a great bottle of wine coupled with a new set of Maxspeed springs.

Seriously, you'd choose 21 Central over the Met....ah must be a east side thing! I would get the porterhouse and maybe two glasses of louie the 13th. That should put you over and above any limit you set, hell for that I'd install anything!

The Met is a hell of a place, but 21 Central is more consistant. The Met grills hundreds of steaks a night and they don't always get it just right. 21 Central has never under or overcooked a steak I order. I order rare or medium rare and overcooking is a bad way to ruin my night. For a bar scene and the general scenary, The Met and Daniel's take the title (particularly Daniel's in Bellevue's cigar lounge) and there steaks do rock the house, but for a perfect steak dinner every time and some extra attention from the bartender and restaurant staff, 21 Central is the place to choose. Plus, more local celebs end up at 21 Central. BillG shows up every once and a while (despite what the Met folks will tell you about "his table") and Mariner's are regulars there too...laid back scene enough that you can have a good chat with the players and tell them how badly they will get their a$$ kicked by the Yankees yet again this year.

On the choice of steaks...Chateaubriand...prepared at the table is an unbeatable choice at The Met in my opinion. At the bargain price of $87, how can you turn that down?

Re: GREAT DEAL: just had my maxspeeds installed for $475!!!

475....that's a set of AGX. are all their mechanics girls and working without any cloth on?

I got quoted last time, 90 dollars for installing springs and struts. 150 from a shop, include alignment.

I would just go around and ask the mechanics is they are willing to do side jobs on weekends. 475 is way too much....7 hours of labor???

One shop told me that it would cost me 575.00 do have my springs installed at thier shop today. They told me that it would take 9 hours to get the springs put on. I told him that was the highest price i had ever heard of before and that it shouldnt take more than 4 hours to do this job. He said that 9 hours would be the least amount of time it would take and he was being leniant on it.

anything

over $150 is a total rip off AND (some will burn me for saying this) the meager drop of the Maxspeeds does not require an alignment. IF YOU MUST get an alignment, certainly don't do it right away. They won't fully settle for up to three weeks.

Honestly, when I first got the Maxspeeds installed, I felt a pull to the right. After three weeks they settled and the steering was dead on again.

But after all that I traded those springs in for something better (that is a diff'nt story)...

Maxspeeds

I have 18s and i'm worried about the ride quality, and maybe bending my rims. Are Maxspeeds really like H&Rs, with nice stock-like ride quality. I was gonna pass on H&Rs, but I think Maxspeeds price is really tempting...
Should i do it or not?

I was less than thrilled with the Maxspeeds. I would go H&R if I had to do it over again (although I must admit, I have never ridden on them.
