Help changing damn Fuel Filter

What does Nissan had to place fuel filter in such damn hard to reach location?
Here is the situation. I am trying to change the fuel filter from above and not under the car since I don't have tools.
It is my understanding that you can change fuel filter from the top, right?
Well, I know where the fuel filter is located at. I can reach the top hose. However, bottom hose of the fuel filter is so damn hard to reach. I tried to pull the fuel filter out but it seems like the bottom hose is keeping it from comming out.

I need advise on how to change the fuel filter from top and not from bottom of the car.

Thanks.

I think what I did was take the top hose off, pop the filter out of the braket, unscrew the bottom screw, and then used like a stick, or pliers to force the bottom hose off.

i have tiny hands so it was easy to get to it...use a stubby screwdriver and that's all u'll need...btw i dont ahve ABS so it was a lot easier...and i did change it from the top of the car
and if the hose is hard to come off, heat it up with a blowdryer
the pry it off with a flat head

good luck

Its easier to remove if you remover your airbox first.

try this:
take the filter out of the metal bracket. the TOP hose is harder to pull off then the bottom hose, SO turn the fliter so you can get to the bottom hose, release the clamp and pull it off. flip the filter so that the top hose is now on the bottom(this way fuel won't leak out), use a flat-head and carefully pry up the hose. install is just reverse of these directions.

The only problem is that I have Strut bar and ABS lines. I guess I have to take the air duct that has airmass sensor. I think the bottom hose is really tight. The clip that it hold is out but I can not bring the filter to the top. The problem is the bottom hose. It is very hard to reach for those screw in the hose plus to reinstall, it is harder.
Anyway I will try. Also I will go to Autozone to change the fuel filter to the 300ZX since it lasts longer.

By the way, the easiest way to put back the filter to the really tight hose is to use hair sprays. At bike shops, when they install new rubber handle to the handle bar, they spray hair spray ( I don't know if the hair spray is firm hold or extra firm hold ) to the handle bar and just insert the rummber handle. After couple of minutes hair spray will dry and it gets fixed.

I think Deezo is so right. The only way I could do it was to remove the airbox or the pop charger, whichever you have. I didnt need to take off my strut bar. Make sure you pull the fuze for the fuel line and start your car, let in run until it stalls. This releases the pressure in the fuel lines. Pull like crazy. It will come off.

Also have a disposable cup handy so you can catch as much gas as possible that comes out of the hoses & the filter when you detach them. No sense spilling gas everywhere when you don't have to.

Undo the filter hose connection on the top and remove from bracket and let it drop to the floor...then just reach over behind wheel replace the filter and feed back up into engine bay (here is where it helps to have a co-worker) and just reconnect it again.

How about just investing a few bucks and getting some decent clamps... that way you won't get so much fuel spillage?

Clamps for what? You mean clamping the hose shut while it's off the filter? There's isn't a lot of gas that comes out when you do the switch, just a few ounces.

BTW the gas comes out of the filter, not the hose.

Use a blowdryer to heat up the hoses to get them off easier. It works!

you may need to remove the fstb and the air box to get at the filter. as far as the hairdryer, i don't know about using a hairdryer near gas. have you ever looked inside the hairdryer while it's on, those coils get pretty hot. anyway it's your choice to risk. when you do get the hoses off put some lube on the ends of the filter so it's easier next time. good luck.
