Bad (horrible) Track Time

i was looking at the 1/4th times and i think i might have the slowest. yes i know, i have an auto vg which was stock at the time but a 17.6? am i expecting too much?

heres the slip:
R/T: 1.133
60': 2.829
330: 7.607
1/8: 11.517
mph: 62.87
1000: 14.840
1/4: 17.685
mph: 78.69

i did have about half a tank of gas and my spare (the track is far from my house and i didn't want to risk it). i didn't do any fancy launching techniques. my car runs great so do you think it was just my extra weight? plus it had just finished raining so it was a little wet.

Not to be a master of the obvious, but maybe try a faster car? What would have been a good time for you?

Have you done a whole tune-up recently? I know my car needs it and it certainly does help. You might have the same power problem that lots of 3rd gen's seem to suffer from. There are too many potential things that can malfunction in some sort of way and cause all these little decreases in performance. 1hp there and 1hp here doesn't sound like a lot but, it can all add up and seriously hurt performance. I'm having many of these problems lately such as 02 sensor replacement (meaning I need to!), half tune-up (i've already done half of it), possible vacuum leaks, cat malfunctioning, muffler malfunctioning, knock sensor retarding timing (not sure on this one yet). I'm just going to save myself some trouble and get a CAI, 02 sensor and the whole exhaust w/ a high flow cat. Hopefully that will solve some of the problems while I try and see if there is anything else I can fix. Sorry if none of this applies to you but, I thought I should at least mention it.

Your 2.8 60' is killing you. Look at my time in my sig. I'm only 1 mph faster than your trapspeed and I beat you by .7. I think if you get a better launch then you will easily hit low 17s, high 16s.

Re: Bad (horrible) Track Time

It is all in the launch. Spinning that much killed any hope of a good ET. But from the 1/8 to 1/4 trap you gain around 16mph. That is pretty good, so your lacking on the bottom end. A 2.4x 60' would have gotten you a 16.8-17.0.

Yes it is however, the driver sometimes doesn't allow it . Also where did you race and how high above sea level is it? Did you do a burnout in the water box or drive around it?

its the rain... you can tell by the 2.8 60'.... but i think you still need a tuneup... cause my first time to the track i went through the waterbox on bald tires and got a 2.8 60' but still ran a 17.0@81.8

i drove around the water box but the track was still wet as it was just finished raining. the track is in south florida so pretty close to sea level. thanks for all your help guys!

You should be able to drop 2 seconds off if you remove the maple leaves from your caps

In FLA I would be careful, a lot of locals don't love Canadians (or should I say "Canadiens"). I guess it's safer than a "fleur de lys".
