What is the name of the gasket for the manual transmission?
What is the name of the gasket for the manual transmission?
Sorry for being vague, but i'm really not sure what it's called and how to refer to it...
Basically I have developed a leak from my MT. It's between my drivers side wheel well and the plug that you unscrew to check the MT fluid level. I mentionned it to my brother and he said no prob, pickup the gasket and we'll replace it over the weekend. I'm not sure what I should be asking the nissan dealership for.
Any help would be great.
ps: I remember the nissan guy telling me (when i got my arm replaced) that MT oil is leaking and gasket change would eventually be needed. It wouldn't cost or take long to replace. Is this true?
Thanks guys

Just ask for manual tranny gasket, then give them the year and make of the car. That's it.
It took my mechanic ~30 minutes to change my auto tranny gasket. So I think it should take that long for yours. I think the most time consuming is all the screws.
One more thing, there are two magnets stick to the bottom of the oil pan. Not sure if it is the same for yours. Make sure you clean those out.

If it's between the wheel well and the filler plug like you say it sounds like it could be the pnp switch.

If that's not it, it could be a leak from the drivers side seal where the transmission meets the axle. I had a leak there and got it fixed under warranty at ~50k.
