Fuel lines & rear brake lines

Awhile back I had a situation where my brake pedal went to the floor. I was able to stop only by pumping the pedal a few times. A good thing I was very close to home.

Turns out that one of the rear brake lines had corroded enough to finally leak under pressure. This area of corrosion was under the mud and stone guard located under the drivers side of the car (about three feet long).

I ended up replacing the two brake lines and the three fuel lines due to significant corrosion. Cost about $130 for parts and four hours of labor (actually took longer, but he gave me a break). Not something that can be done by yourself without a lift. Many things front and rear have to be removed/moved to install these things properly.

Anyone living in road salt usage areas should take a look at these to be safe. Clean them up and apply a good anti-corrosion compound to them if they are still good! Otherwise you better replace! I left the guard off also to prevent all the road crap from accumulating under it.
