Maxima vs. Lexus GS (300/400/430)

Just curious if any of you fellow Max owners went up against any Lexus GS (300/400/430) and which would win?

Nice BMW man! You didn't sell out your Maxima, unlike many BMW owners who sell themselves out.

"Race one and find out" This should be in the FAQ.

My mom drives a 98 GS400. It is much faster than my Auto Max. They run low 14s stock...

Geez, why'd you put that on your signature. The guy definately has an attitude problem, but I think it isn't worth the space it takes up and it may upset some people. My .02

GS300 - With a 5spd you should win fairly easily. It would be pretty close with an auto Max.

GS400/430 - Unless your car is heavily modded you don't stand a chance against either one of these.

My Mom drives a 2K2 GS300, and although it has more stock handling capability and luxury than my car (stock SE suspension), driving it makes me miss the the rawness(intake) and power which are present in the Max.

GS300s run like high 15s stock.. they have 220 or 225 hp but they are heavy
the 5 speed max will take one if you can drive okay.. the auto might as well

the GS400 or 430... forget it. Unless you have a 2k2 max or a lot of mods you're not in their league

My 5 speed eats GS300s on a regular basis. I always think of them as GS400 wannabes GS300s are just like Acura TL type regulars, 225 hp, but a heavy body.

I attempted to take a GS400 on the highway, it was like

I've run a couple GS400s at my track (local rich kids). One is bonestock and even has the ugly stock 16s. I ran him and I got a 14.6@97mph to his 14.6@96mph. I believe his best is a 14.5@97mph. His buddy's has the 17s in chrome, no less, and an intake and he's actually slower. I've watched him run a lot of 14.7s-14.8s@95mph. One thing about the GS400s, they heat soak bad. I've watched these guys do back to back passes and they are significantly slower when the engine is hot (ie they are running low 15s). Very nice cars though. I'd take it over my Maxima.

Forget about it...............

it was about 3am i was goin' 125mph getting close to 130mph at this speed you can't speed up fast, but anyway i was testing my car for speed. (just bought it, it's a 98SE with 112k) i saw 2 hiperwhite lights in the mirror, that was the Lexus GS 430 getting closer and closer to me, faster and faster, and then he like stuck 3 feet on my back, like waiting until i move away, but i don't move anywhere i keep speeding and i am about 135mph @ 6000rpm and i can't go anyfaster, so this guy goes to the right lane and speeds up like a rocket, i'd say he went about 150-160mph and that was shocking, but since then i want the GS.

after all i stopped,
got a bottle of heineken
and enjoed my sigarette.

Good Luck Folks !
don't even go there it's very very dangerous !!!!!

A 4th gen auto will stay head to head with a GS300 until probably 80 MPH or so when the GS will take over. GS 400/430 is competition for a 2K2 6 speed(With a good driver) or a 4th/5th gen 5 speed with all the bolt ons and a good driver.

Well,, the SC430 runs to 60 in 6.09 and the quarter mile in 14.5
Those numbers dont show the flexibility you have with 300hp on tap, but still the Maxima is capable of bettering those times with basic bolt ons, and a capable driver wouldnt hurt either.

I wish I had my pic of my friend and his max and my GS 4 together. Killing his 98 is easy, killing my other friends 00 is easy, 2K2 is harder, those things are swift! GS 300 is not meant for speed but a wonderful 40k car.

At www.clublexus.com, we got a few Maxima dudes who moved up to the GS series or still has their Maxima!
