Nitrous Wiring Diagram

Found this online:
http://www.fquick.com/images/vehicle.../382192592.jpg
Would it be the same with a MSD8969? Would I use the yellow wire (normally open) or the gray wire (normally closed)?

First time using a window switch. Have usually stuck with just a TPS and my driving abilities (lol)

Thanks in advance,
Gene

That's a pretty diagram, and I think the yellow wire is correct for the MSD - it needs to go to ground when RPMs are above the low setting and open up when the RPMs are above the high setting. I don't see any fuses - bad. You need at least a 30-amp fuse for the solenoid power, and another 10-amp fuse for the Arming switch power feed. Also, never use the body or chassis ground for the negative return to the battery -always run a heavy wire - like 10-gauge - for the solenoids back to the battery, and a 16-gauge wire for the arming switch.

You may have to adjust the fuel-pressure switch to get it right - 43 psi is standard for our EFI cars. Personally, I don't use one.

Have fun......
:D

So as per your suggestion(s) the red wire going to the (+) terminal on the battery will need a 30AMP inline fuse? And ground the solenoids to the actual battery (-) terminal?

That's my opinion - fuses are a Good Thing. And yes, ground everything back to the (-) terminal on the battery. Rusty sheet metal doesn't alway work..... The solenoids pull a lot of current when activated.

that IS a purdy diagram :wall:

How big of a shot are you spraying?

The number isn't set in a stone yet but currently I only have a single nozzle installed and jetted at 120 (just received the jets yesterday too) I will be replacing my MSD with a Dynotune 2Stage Controller and then it's either I install my second nozzle and run it just like that at either 150 or 175, or go direct-port and focus the major part of the nitrous to that (20HP/cylinder) and then an additional nozzle for the remaining 50-60HP as the second stage. But if I choose direct-port, a lot of changes will be made to the fuel system. So I might go easy on my budget and just stick the second nozzle in.

I know street racing isn't allowed.. but we should head out to a "track" sometime when the weather is better and run 'em. :D

Are you wet or dry? What brand are you using? I'm assuming you have an upgraded fuel pump and at least 1-step colder plugs. Have you sprayed it yet? If you need a dynotune 2 stage nitrous controller, I might be selling mine. I would love to add a 2nd stage and spray more than a 150 shot, but I'm afraid of blowing 3rd gear.

I'd be willing to meet up at the "track," lol. I think you MIGHT beat me, but it will be close. Although, I can beat a stock altima 3.5 6mt when I'm not spraying...

Shoot me a PM sometime. :)

Running two step colder plugs, stock pump (on the 120 shot) and the timing is -2 from stock. The nitrous kit is a mix of Nitrous Express and Dynotune. But most of the components are mainly NX. I haven't sprayed the 120 yet. Last time I sprayed was almost a year ago. Anxious for the weather to get better so I can slap the BFGs on and play hardball at the Krispy Kreme, haha!

That's quite an achievement, especially from a 3rd gen to be able to take a stock Altima 3.5 5MT. The 3.5 Altima is a low to mid-14 second car stock at around 96-99MPH (depending on conditions, driver, etc.) So that's movin'. What do you have done other then the nitrous?

Are you sure the stock fuel pump is enough? You should also get a wideband. What shot did you spray in the past?

I have almost every bolt on for the VE30 and my engine is fairly new (less than 20k miles) with 10.5:1 comp. pistons. Oh yeah, I forgot that the mt altimas had a 5sp tranny. lol. Krispy kreme would be fun, but I have zero traction until about 60-70 mph even with a functioning vlsd, 235-40/18's, and limiting strap.

Last time I sprayed I believe it was at a 100 shot. The stock fuel pump is fine for a 120 shot. If I go two stage, then those issues will be reworked.

I was just wondering because I know the 3rd and 4th gen maxima pump is only good for a 75 shot. How bad did you loose traction with a 100 shot?

Back then I was running on really crappy 215/55 tires and traction was gone. Even on a 50 shot the car was breaking loose REALLY bad. I am now running a 245/40 and hope that it will be SOMEWHAT better. If not then I have some 275/40 BFG D/Rs waiting. :D The funny thing is they're mounted on the same wheels I have as D/Ds. Should be almost.. scary! Even more so since this is what the rear of my car looks like:

I love sleepers. Here's what mine looks like on slicks and oem saw blades. The picture sucks because it's taken from a video...

Nice slogan there .... since I owe you one for the nozzle hint, how about a cheap deal on an individual-port nitrous kit?

Already saw that. Used to have a ColdFusion Purge and Warmer back in the day. Pretty good company. :)

As for the license plate trim, it's an inside joke between me and a buddy of mine. But it is currently off since I don't want my car to get keyed by some angry ricer. :D
