fuel filler guard
fuel filler guard
In the old threads a issue had been raised about missing fuel guards on some of our cars. Has anyone installed one, and if so do they have the part numbers that have to be ordered to get it. Thanks
You referring to the spring-loaded metal flap in the fuel filler hole that all cars have except mine?
I'm not worried about it, I mean, there is a filler cap there after all...

Formerly working at a Nissan Dealership, in Service, and acknowledging that the parts were a cost-cutting attempt on the part of Nissan North America, I too was interested in purchasing the fuel filler protector and the 4 retaining clips. The 2000's had them but 2001's forward did not! Nissan said something about sludge, leaves, snow and salt being trapped between the fuel filler protector and the fuel filler pipe itself and rusting through prematurely, in colder climates. But what about those of us that don't live in cold climates! What about rocks and other road debris hitting that exposed pipe? Anyhow, It's really easy to put on. The part names and numbers are as follows:
Quantity Part Number/Description List
1 17290-2Y000 Protector-Filler $ 20.35
4 01553-09321 Clip $ 2.20
I hope this info is helpful, I couldn't stand the way that exposed pipe looked in the wheel-well. Your neighborhood dealership can have those parts to you in about 2 days.
Respectfully.

I installed it today and it fits perfectly. I had to jack the car up so the wheel and tire would drop down. Otherwise, you'll have to remove the wheel and tire. The clips just push into the holes and lock down with the center pins.
