I looked at the wiring diagrams for the 95, 96, 98, 99, 2000 & 2001. None of the diagrams show the colors you posted.

All the diagrams show black for ground, red/green stripe for brake light and red/blue stripe for tail lights. This covers the side markers, the license plate light, hi-mount stop light as well as all the trunk lid and fender lights.

Don't know what you have.

Have you got an aftermarket spoiler on the car?

I think the wires shown maybe part of the harness before the branch to the tail light.... maybe for the trunk opener or security.

That is why the ground is branched.

Nissan does not tap wires like that. When Nissan taps wires, they do it in a connector, they crimp 2 wires together with the connector pin.

Plus, Nissan does not make wire harnesses like that. There is always a connector on both ends.

Thanks for the help bro. When you said that and knowing what I already knew, I went back and looked closer. The wiring for the entire tail light comes in and goes to a plug that splits it out to the correct bulbs.

Looking closer at that, I found my answer. The wires for the tail light and brake light coming into that main plug are the colors you and that diagram I found. Red/black and red/white. Coming out of the plug and going to the actual bulb and plug they change to Green/Yellow and Green/White. Followed the original colors and hooked up the resistors.
No more bulb out when braking or when the lights are on!!!

Thanks for your help! Dennis this what I just read so got to be the back light
