0707 Code and it's relation to boost
 

So I got an 0707 (Rear O2) Code 2 days ago, along with a 1003 (P/N Switch). I got the 0707 again yesterday.

Strange about the P/N Switch, because I wired that up when I did the 5spd conversion, I wired it into the clutch pedal and the car does just what it's supposed to - doesn't start unless I push the clutch in.) :gotme: - anyway, this only occurred once, so I'm not too concerned about it.

The O2 code happened twice, both after doing runs through several gears at full boost.

I know by doing a search that the Rear O2 doesn't affect anything performance wise, but I was wondering...

Can a rear O2 code be thrown by alot of exhaust (boosting) going out all at once?

Or is there something else I should look at (Cat, the O2 sensor itself?)

If I don't boost, I don't get the code. Actually, I boosted all day today, and it never threw a code....so I don't know what's up.

Any ideas?

I've got exactly the same two codes. The 1003 I assumed was because I can (and do) start the car without the clutch pedal depressed. The fact that you get it too is surprising to me.

I've been getting the 0707 ever since I replaced the cat with a test pipe, back when my car was NA. I put the cat back on to pass vehicle inspection and I didn't get the code, so it is being triggered by a condition created by the test pipe. The FSM says that an air leak can trigger 0707, as well as low cat temperature. This makes sense in my case, since my test pipe doesn't heat up like a cat would, and maybe I have an air leak as well. I'm not sure what it means in your case since it only occurs when you boost.

Sorry, I'm not much help. If I remember to, I'll take another look at the FSM tonight.

When you reset the ECU, it is normal for it to take a few days for the 0707 code to reappear. So it may not have anything to do with boosting.

Only seems to happen after boosting. If I drive a few days with my gf in the car (she doesn't let me boost) :( , it never comes on.

Of course, this has been only happening for a few days, so maybe I'm wrong. I'll keep an eye on it for a few more days and not boost and see what happens.

My current theory is an exhaust leak that isn't big enough to cause a code unless I'm boosting.

The P/N switch was just confusing. I'll take a second look at my wiring and O2 Sensor this weekend when I have the car up on a lift anyway. May as well just remove it and clean it for good measure.

when i cruise at a constant speed for a long time, that code goes off on me also....

Hmmm....got the code again today and wasn't boosting.

Guess I'll replace it.

What's the cheapest place to get these?

I believe courtesy nissan has rear O2 sensors for $65. You might want to give them a call at 1-800-527-1909.

I still haven't replaced this and it's been 3 weeks since I last threw the code.

The only changes I've made was changing out my spark plugs (just doing routine maintenance) and wrapping my exhaust (which I just did yesterday).

I guess my quesiton is - what causes a rear O2 code? What is it telling me?
