A cheap way to lower my fuel pressure?
I got this idea from someone, somewhere. This guy was suggesting that using a pressure bleeder valve to lower fuel pressure on a non-adjustalbe FMU. Basically, you tap a bleeder valve into the vacuum hose on the FMU. So if you are running too much fuel pressure at...say...7psi, you adjust the bleeder valve to leak at 5 or 6psi. This way, the FMU will think that you are running 5psi only and it will close it like it should at 5psi, but in fact, you are actually pushing 7psi to the engine. This is a good way to lean out the car a little?
yes? no? if yes, what does a pressure bleeder vavle looks like? a small BOV/recirculate valve? dunno if this has been posted in this forum before, if it has, I apologize for repost. thx |
This is what I am using for my Manual boost controller for my turbo but it will work the same ..
It is a brass bleed valve. shown here http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/pro...mId=1611725344 You will also need a "T" and 2 1/4 inch NPT fittings. I am useing it and the control is very good.. I can change as low as 1/2 PSI. Total cost $15-$20 |
thx for the link...so this is manually adjustable?
seems I need another boost gauge for this valve.... :) Originally posted by bags533 This is what I am using for my Manual boost controller for my turbo but it will work the same .. yeah you can do it with a wrench, for the lock nut , and then the center screw by hand/screwdriver

thx bags~ I just find out more info.
http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/...Code=6Z120-010 this is the "air bleed regulator" by vortech. it attaches right onto vortech FMU and it works like a adjustable FMU. Down side is, it only allows you to go down 1 unit of the FMU ratio. That means, if you have a 8:1, you can only go down to 7:1 the lowest. So if you have a vortech FMU and your AFR indicates your car is running rich, this can be something to put onto the to-do list. 28 bucks pic: http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/.../6z120-010.gif and special thx to Mardigras and Stephenmax for the info. It is not listed on vortech's product page, you have to type in the part no. on the serach page. the part no. is 6z120-010 |
good info for the masses thanks for sharing guys :D
