No for some raw DATA... ALL PULLS DONE IN 4TH GEAR

at start up with the A32 maf, airflow % was 1.8%-2.0% at 830+ rpm.

After warm up with the A32 maf, airflow % was 1.1%-1.2% at 699-715 rpm

With the Z32 maf, at start up, airflow % was 1.4%-1.5% at 830+ rpm

After warm up with the Z32 MAF, airflow % was 1.1%-1.2% at 699-710 rpm. I don't know why I never saw 715 rpm. It was 710 rpm, so I wrote it down.

ALL of this measured VIA the SAFC2

On the DYNO. Car idled around 14:1 A/F. So as stephen said, idle is stoch.

On the 1st dyno pull with ZERO corrections on the SAFC, A/F was 10:1 around 4000 rpm and 12:1 @ 6500 rpm. THIS IS WITH THE 4:1 FMU DISK. I left the 4:1 Disk in. the 6:1 disk was WAY to much fuel for 4500 rpm. SO I ADDED fuel from 5600+.. 8%

I added fuel @ 2400rpm 20%

All other adjustments were taking fuel away.. -8%

TIMING...I got some timing readings.. just FYI... I did not get any on the baseline run. Watching to many things. ALL RPM reading are CLOSE guesses.

1st run added fuel.. ~8 PSI

5k rpm- +23
4.5k rpm-+17
5k rpm- +22
5.5k rpm-+27
6k rpm- +24

2nd run... added 1 PSI, no fuel

4k- +23
4.5k-+17
5k- +21
5.5k-+25
6k- +24

3rd run ADDED fuel

4k- +24
4.5k-+17
5k- +26
5.5k- +24
6k- +24

THERE WERE MORE RUNS.. FINE TUNING, FUEL ADDED.. NO TIMING WAS LOGGED.

LAST RUN @ 11.5:1 A/F @ 9.7 PSI

4k- +23
4.5k-+17
5k- +24
5.5k- +23
6k- +24

Also measured, Airflow %. On one of the final pulls Airflow % was 50% at redline with the Z32 maf. I could not read it until 6+k rpm. Read on the SAFC.

If I forgot something, I'll add it later.

Car runs and idles fine.

Thats 10 psi? Why numbers so low, regular intake manifold? Looks good though, torque doesn't even really drop off. :doublethu

Yep.. I am doing that and another mod down the road... and thanks for the kick in the nuts with the "why so low" comment edit.. just busting your balls :jester:

:slant: Sorry man, its that damn intake manifold that is being restrictive. What size exhuast and downpipe do you have? Have you though about port matching the upper and lower manifolds to the gaskets, and port the throttlebody too. I did it this weeked took like 2 hours to do the throttlebody and upper intake manifold, I will do the lower soon, I had an extra set though. I just used a dremel. I have never done it before and it came out pretty good. Cost me like $10 dollars in dremel brand coarse sanding drums. Everything is very smooth. I take pictures on monday, my girlfriend has my camera.

stephenlc 09-25-2004 02:19 PM

AT 4500 rpm why does it only add 17+ can the computer not keep up since that is where peak torque is?

It's cool.. I was busting your balls :)

2 3/4 downpipe I think... 3inch cat and 3 inch exhaust. I am looking at some other mods, like putting the MEVI back on. I also may have a fouled plug. I need to change the plugs and regap them

And on the +17 deg of timing, I bet it was more like 5000rpm. And I bet your exactly correct.

stephenlc 09-26-2004 04:50 AM

how did you know how much timing was pulled? You have obd scanner?

Yep. It shows realtime data. And timing was what I wanted to monitor

|Bijan| 09-26-2004 10:32 AM

So, 17 degrees advanced timing......if it was set at normal, how much would it retard on its own? Or...it's really not even worth it to find out?

What do you mean "normal"?

I DID NOT ADVANCE OR RETARD TIMING. I just watched what the stock ECU had the timing set at.

THIS MAXIMA IS A MONSTER...Bags

I took a ride in this beast yesterday at a Nissan/Infiniti Meet. This was not my first ride in ride but I could tell the difference in the power on this recent drive compared to the old one. It has power throughout the whole powerband. I mean this thing spins the wheels in first and second gears and then when it hooks up it takes off. :doublethu Bags was scared himself to drive it so fast because it is tuned very well now. It will put you in the back of your seat fast. When those "other mods" are put back on I cant wait to see how much better it will be although it drives smooth right now. All the new piping is very clean and nice. I was really impressed by how Bags has really got his Maxima running now. :bowdown1:

Regular manifold isn't the issue. We pulled 302whp@7psi through an auto after 7 runs w/ the same manifold. I'd look at the plugs. We dyno'd again last month after 2k miles running way rich on the 370's + raised fuel pressure(don't ask why it's still up) and we were down 20+whp.

The reason why torque doesn't look like it's falling off is b/c the scale of the graph looks a bit compressed. A print out or a full screen capture would probably show more of a difference.

Bags,

Are you running a test pipe? We gained almost 50whp after we switched to the test pipe and 3" exhaust. We're still using a partially crushed 2.5" downpipe as well. With your turbo sizing, manual, and boost ideally you'll be in the 330-340 range even w/ that intake manifold. Good numbers regardless. Guess Shadow will have to up the ante or settle for driving the lowest hp turbo Maxima in the ATL.

Bags 09-27-2004 10:31 AM

justin, 3 inch cat.And I dyno'd at dynolab, not batlground. I'd expect another ~15 whp at batlground.

BUT, I am doing a compression test and putting in new plugs gapped @ .034. I am gapped @ .038. If the plugs look fouled I will dyno agin to make sure the A/F is still 11.5:1.

Bags 09-27-2004 10:31 AM

Thanks kenny :D

I wish that Sc'd g35 oner would have ridden in my car ;)

Looks like good things are going on with your car bags, glad things are running well for you!

and welcome to the 300+ club!

IceY2K1 09-27-2004 02:28 PM

Bags,

What was the correction factor? Or better uncorrected numbers?

Factor.. I don't know.. the numbers were like 10 LESS whp/TQ.

Want me to email you the dyno file?

Thanks hal

IceY2K1 09-27-2004 03:10 PM

Sure....try IceY2K1@Maxima.org. Might work.

If it's only 10whp, then that's nothing to consider.

nismo2020 09-27-2004 03:43 PM

omg !! bags said "thanks hal"

yeap i knew it hurricanes and that = end of the world for sure..

hey man nice numbers, btw what was that goal again?

Can't be mad forever you know ;)

WELL.. it was 400 whp/tq.. but I can smoke 2nd from 4500 rom to redline and traction is worse now then when you rode in it.

over 300 is the goal. SO with the MEVI I will be where I want.
