Supercharger vs Turbo --> What's the difference and gain in hp both give?
 

Sorry if this is posted somewhere else, as you can see on the subtitle of my name, i'm a newbie. Tried looking through the stickies and just found tech issues or what not. So will someone take the time to explain this whole hoo-haw to me please? I have a 95' Maxima, and i'm starting to do performance mods so any advice would help.

What's the difference in hp both push out?
Which is "better" for streets and which is "better" for tracks?
Any difference in sounds? If so, any sound files around that I can hear?

For Maxima's in particular, the only bolt on SC option available is a centrifugal type which builds boost related to rpm. Peak boost is not available until redline. A turbo charger can see peak boost much earlier depending on the size of turbo used. So for maxima specific applications a turbo will provide much more power earlier in the rpm band.

What is better for the track and street depends on alot of things, but mostly traction and if the race is from a roll or a dig. But in general, a turbo max will be faster.
