programed ecu is no good w/ SC?

When Stillen says "The kit must be used with good quality 92+ octane fuel and is not to be combined with any other engine or engine control unit (ECU) modifications."
Does that mean if i have a ecu programed by JWT (not the SC program) i cant use the supercharger unless i get the ecu reprogramed again with the sc program or jus buy a 'stock' ecu?

Thanks this is just something i have always thought about and i figgured i would jus ask

Not a 100% sure what you mean. But I think your asking if you can use JWT's NA program on a SC maxima. The answer is no.....well you could but chances are you will detonate something terrible.

JWT has two several different tunes available for our cars. NA, SC, Turbo, nitrous. You want to use the correct one for your set up.

Yes, you can just buy a stock ECU. But if you already have a JWT ECU with X tune you can have Y tune done for $100.

hey man
yeah u got it. thanks for the response

Actually, Ben@JWT tells me there is no difference between the Turbo and SC maps.

But yeah - if you already have a programmed ECU - it's only $100 for a new EEPROM chip to make it work for SC.

im gonna call JWT myself tomorrow and find out, but until then......when JWT programs a chip for SC, What exactly are they tuning for or do they give u a bunch of options (according to ur set up) and u go from there?

JWT tunes for a couple different variables. for the boosted program they tune for...

-the MAF you will be running (stock A32 MAF or Z32 MAF)
-the size of injectors you will be using (240cc, 370cc, 555cc and so forth)
-rev limit you wish to increase to (most commonly 7000 or 7200 rpms)

all other mods are basically insignifcant as far as how they tune the ECU for your desired setup.

What?! That makes no sense at all. The power curves and where boost comes on are totally different between the two. That can't be right, what tuner in their right mind would do that.

so according to u if i did choose to stay with a stock A32 and 240cc(if they are stock---> if not my bad) injectors(not that i would) i would NOT have to have the ecu reprogrammed again?!

Requin6 04-08-2005 04:50 AM

yes you would have to change.. the boosted timing and A/F maps are different than the NA program. if you are going to use the JWT ECU for your SC setup, you HAVE to get it re-programmed (i.e. $100)

it is right...when I ordered my ECU, I ordered it for a S/C and it came with a T/C Sticker on the ECU..when I called up Ben told me its the same tune
