I had this old shop vac. tubing and attachment lying around so I decided to have some fun with it......

This would be better than the CAI in the fender if you get this wrapped up in a box like it's being suggested.

I wasn't too pissed b/c the whole setup didn't work at all. The fact that you can route more air to your air filter works, in theory. But I did more than that. Like trapping ALL the air that goes into that inlet into a box. That doesn't work unless you are going over 80mph. Im building a much better version of what aaron did. The box will be about 3-5 times the frontal area so it should have a pretty good increse. Im making one for my 240 and max, and my buddy and I are going to do one for his ranger.
Aaron- how thick is that metal? My buddy and I are going to use some thin alu and weld it up. It looks like you used steel. any way cant wait to get started... ~Alex |

When the inlet hit the pavement, it didn't hold up very well. :D So I got rid of the entire setup b/c the loss in power below 80mph was too much for me. You need to find a way to get PLENTY of air at low speeds. I would think a larger piece of inlet piping and a larger chamber might help. |

Doing a tupperware deal like I did several years shouldn't change your AFR. But, it will make it harder for the engine to suck in air at low speeds. I did notice a big power gain on the highway. But it simply did not work at low speeds and I ripped it all out. |
