z32 maf, 550's not idling
Installed the z32 maf and 550's, fired it up and the rpms immediately surge to about 3000, then slowly taper off and eventually the engine just dies after 5 seconds. During this time is a very loud whooshing/hissing noise. If I give it gas it is VERY lumpy, definately something wrong. I have the z32 maf angled flat as described in the stickies. Supercharger is not installed. I'm just running it N/A to [try to] get it working first.
Everything should be hooked up so I don't know what the problem is. The vacumn/boost gauge shows very little vacumn. I'm going to recheck everything again, but in the meantime does anyone have any ideas? Honestly it feels like my friends prelude when his engine took a major dump and the engine ended up being blown. :( EDIT: Problem fixed. Forgot about two bolts I removed on the backside of the intake manifold. Idle and drivability is now perfect! |

A ripped internal O-ring on one of your injectors ?? Did you make sure and lube them up nicely ?? Counld be simply a Vacuum line you forgot to plug in
-matt |
Yup I lubed it up real good with vaseline. O-rings were brand new. Intake manifold gasket was replaced with a new one when I took apart the IM.
|
its your vacuum lines, im pretty sure, spray some water with soap onto where you might think a leak might be, then see if it bubbles up. Check everything carefully.
|
WHOOOO fixed it after drinking some beer. !!! Turned out to forgot to screw in these two bolts in the back of the IM near the firewall.. WHOOOO it idles like a dream!! WOOORD
|
Congrats :) Problem Solved

THATS funny mine can't idle with even stock injectors i had it installed with jwt ecu and z32 maf and the car started and couldnt idle and i give it gas and as soon as i let off it died  . i placed the maf in the same postion like in the stickies and still that's what happen atleast ten times and i gave it gas and it was feeling very lumpy and like the was something definatley wrong. i couldnt figure it out so i took out the z32 maf and the jwt ecu out , put the stock ecu and stock maf and the car idled and ran normal again. :hmmrun: |
Go to sleep man.

Anyway, finally got the supercharger on, but the charge pipe is still not hooked up because I'm still waiting on the flange for the bypass valve. Oh, after I bolted it all back on, I noticed the belt was really close to the center post on the plate. I didn't want to take any chances so I took it off again and ended up dremel-ing the entire post off. Did I mention the how tough that steel v1 plate is? I must have broken a dozen of those dremel discs before it finally came off. And what's the trick to getting that oil return line hooked up? Took me forever to wiggle it on and tighten the clamp. |

What injector size is the JWT ECU tuned for? |

You should be on the rich side under WOT, but you just want to make sure. |

Congrats Eric!! Damn, you don't waste any time!! Now I gotta do mine! (I just might call on you to help me put in my injectors)

BTW, you and Josh were right about that bend being 60 degrees. :shiner: I had to cut the 45 degree bend a bit on one edge to "make it" a 60 degree. Teaser pic: http://img280.imageshack.us/img280/2416/cimg00256lf.jpg |

Lookin good Eric!
With your Z32 MAF, did you cut off the old harness or did you splice the new one in so you can go back to A32 MAF easily if need be? If so, did you use the "T" connectors? solder? How did you do it?? I have an OEM manifold gasket sitting in the garage next to my ....:grinno:

No, it doesn't work that way. It could have not ran for other reasons, but it was probbably due to having the wrong injectors. |
oh ok bc the car ran on the jwt ecu with stock injector and a32 maf but as soon the z32 maf went it could not hold. so i tought was weird but i see i am wrong thanks mike
