**Gauging Interest: V1 Supercharger Starter Kit for 3.5 Ltr. Motor**

Alright guys this is just an idea at this point but hear me out.

I have been throwing around the idea of trying to make a Plate Kit for you 3.5 ltr, 5.5 Gen and 6th gen Nissan Maxima's and possibly Altima's. I know there is NO Super Charger Kit out there for you guys yet, and even if something does come out in the next year or so, this kit will definetly be cheaper in every way possible

The Kit would be exactly like my V1 Starter Kit for the 3.0 Guys seen here but re-worked in many ways: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....hlight=Gauging

The reworked parts would include, Different Thermostat Housing with Cooler Outlet, different size bolts, most likely the same pulley, a Totally re-worked plate to fit the 3.5 Timing Cover, and also a drain back plate for the 3.5 ltr timing Cover.

The Plate would be fitted up and tested with blower hooked up 100% before these kits are made and Im kinda shooting for Feb-March possibly to start production.

**The Super Charger Plate will Mount to the Passanger Side of the Engine, and will be a Centrifical Vortech Unit, Counter Clockwise and Straight Discharge**

Im going to be getting a full 3.5 timing cover to mock a plate up and I already ordered a few thermostats to start looking at what needs to be done.

As of now, there are alot of Un-knows to the product that I would like people to start looking into in other forums like www.my350z.com since they use the same motor. Fuel managment is the biggest unknown at this point for the 3.5 liter motor with the returnless fuel system. I do NOT know upgrades that need to get done. Research will have to start now one everything else needed for the Kit to make it work.

Remember guys, this is just an idea. It may not be possible to get done but I am confident I can make it work for you guys.

At this time price is totally up in the air. If everything works out I will be fair on the price, probably somewhere around my 3.0 V1 Starter Kit. I will start an Interested List that I will add to when people are interested. In the mean time, I will start working on ONE Demo Kit.

**This is not a legal binding document, but PLEASE dont sign up for NO reason, Thanks**

**This is months down the road but the most interested and willing party will have to come forward and allow me to demo the Plate onto the motor. NO Boosted air will be put into the motor at ALL. I will simply mount the a drain back plate, feed line, Steel mounting plate, blower, and belt on the side of the motor. Car will be started and ran to check to alignment and after all of my calcalations and measurments are finished over the next few months it should be perfect**Car will be put back to stock and returned. I will need it for maybe 2 days.

Well I think that you have addresses the greatest concern about this project which will be the fule system and its a great idea that everyone who is interested do research on my350z.com. My only other suggestion is to contact Hnda Eater from this forum and shytspark from the altimas.net forums since they have boosted VQ35's and are addressing fuel issues at this time.

Also, I posted this in the Altimas.net forums so we shall see if interest peaks in there as well.

Thats soo much cheaper then what I had anticipated for a Turbo for this car.

I spoke to Tadashi at TechnoSqare and he said he can make a custom fuel map for the ECU based on a Dynochart. Or you can use the SAFC-II and tune the hell out of it.

You have one altimas.net dude interested right here.

Cool to see projects being thought of over here on the org.

KUBLKMAX 11-10-2006 12:24 PM

I am game I want a SC setup over a turbo anyway.

Jay.Are 11-10-2006 03:01 PM

I'm interested, located in South Jersey, will volunteer my car if needed.

kobalt 11-10-2006 03:11 PM

Im in if you guys could actually get supercharger to work with in the 5.5 gen

DRod 11-10-2006 03:11 PM

Definitely interested.

Jay.Are 11-10-2006 03:23 PM

I also have the UTEC for engine management, I can buy the map sensor later when needed.

AllBlackMax 11-10-2006 03:34 PM

Definitely put me down. I've been waiting for this for so long. I'm in Texas, so it will be hard to donate my car.

AllBlackMax 11-10-2006 03:48 PM

With roughly 310hp and 330 lb/ft of torque at the wheels I'm gonna have to do a 6spd manual tranny swap too. :D

02altimaSEny 11-10-2006 05:28 PM

+1 Matty you know.

roro 11-10-2006 05:39 PM

i'm definitely interested. i'm also in north/central jersey so i can possibly help out, especially if it means a free kit ;)

!PrjctMax! 11-10-2006 05:53 PM

I'd be in, after there are a few quinea pigs that get all the kinks taken care of. :chuckle:

True that. Much less plumbing, less heat around the engine, and less maintenance.

Come on now my man. Free kit??? If anything test subjects get the product at cost. But not free.

AllBlackMax 11-11-2006 11:37 AM

I don't enough about Fuel Management to really do any research. Could we borrow the FMU and ignition/timing computer from the Vortech SC kit for the 350Z? http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/...8-010_list.gif

!PrjctMax! 11-11-2006 01:30 PM

maybe i'm not thinking enough, or thinking too much...but couldn't we just take the same things that the s/c 350z has...at least fuel management wise, like injectors, fuel pump, and so on?

does anyone know how much hp/tq the 5spd auto on the 6th gen can take? and if it's too weak then what would have to be upgraded, besides a 6spd swap :tardsmash:

I would say at least a tranny oil cooler and valve body job.

Merlyn 11-12-2006 12:19 AM

I am in the market for a SCer, I live in Maryland and would be willing to spare a few days off work (would have to be with my car for the days you tested it), but that can't come until after new years (I work retail).

vQ35LIFE 11-12-2006 01:00 AM

o Man if you're gona hook me up with the price after you can use my car lol i have a 6 speed , and it's not cuz im cheap =\ its cuz im 19 and im broke lol

5.5 Gen SC

Matt:
This thing you started (has it been about a year ago now) of making a V1 plate to replace the less reliable V2 plate on the 4th gen Max has evolved from that conversion kit, to a starter kit, and now you're looking at evolving a step further to a 3.5 engine starter kit. We started with the Vortech SC mainly because Stillen chose that as the way to go some 10-or-so years ago. But if someone was starting from scratch today, would the centrifugal Vortech still be the way to go? And since to a large extent, this is what the 3.5 engined guys would be looking at, might not this be an appropriate time to comsider alternatives?
What brings this to mind is some searching I've been doing towards acquiring (and modding) a 2-seat, rear-engined, Sunday driver (that's in addition to my Max). I've even found some very interesting kit cars, one powered by the Subaru WRX STI drivetrain placed behind the driver. But what's captured my interest is the neat, little (2200 lbs) Toyota MR2 Spyder. I only wish that the aftermarket community had brought out as much to the enthusiasts as they've done for the Miata, with lots of performance goodies available (especially under the hood). But with only about 5000 Spyders being imported into the USA each year, pragmatic economics has precluded that happening.
I found a Spyder forum-style web site where a couple of the guys with considerable knowledge and ability have developed a SC setup using the Rotrex SC (and done it in an amazingly short timeframe). I don't understand the engineering side well enough to critique their work, but thought that if the same kind of results could be achieved with the 3.5 Max/Altima engine, guys would be wetting their pants to get one. Have a look:

http://www.spyderchat.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=32787

Certainly a subject worthy of debate to see if there are guys on the org with the talent and interest to pursue.

Guys if he was giving out a free kit to the helper he would have mentioned it. But I am pretty sure that no free kits from matty. He is certainly taking time to even make a 3.5kit..

Rotrex is a centrifugal SC also.

I have a buddy that had a LevelTen tranny and he said it lasted about 4 months. I think he's runnin' over 400hp though.

UnMaTcHeD 11-12-2006 04:26 PM

I am interested!

So it's like a pain-killer.........won't last forever? :rollsmile

!PrjctMax! 11-12-2006 05:34 PM

this may be a stupid question........but will the motor have to be taken out to install the s/c?

ghostmax301 11-12-2006 05:34 PM

Wow, Im taking a leep trying to explain this but from what i UNDERSTAND, it makes your trans shift harder, firmer instead of easy shifts(normal trans-soft shifts). because easy, soft shifts matched with that much more power over stock spec will cause slipage of the trans therefore resulting in a blow trans.

I guess its kind of like the drop resistor mod which makes the car shift at maximum line pressure, which is better for racing because it also, eliminates slipage of the trans and would extend the life of your trans if you have a "heavy foot"

About the levelten thing, I might be wrong about the site or something because from what i hear, The VB mod last long!

I hope I cleared that up a little, if I'm wrong about anything, someone PLEASE correct me ;)

No, just a few parts at most for clearance but should be re-installed

digitalbow 11-13-2006 11:25 PM

+3 for teh 3.5 Altima. If i see this working, I'm def in.

All centrifugals are not created equal. The Vortech is old technology; the Rotrex is new technology. The guy on the link doing the R&D work thought like you until he started studying the technical charts of the Rotrex's performance. That persuaded him to do an installation, and the results have by far exceeded his wildest expectations.

Apparently there aren't any inquiring Maxima minds that want to know.....or for that matter even bother to read that thread.

roro 11-14-2006 06:17 PM

btw, jay.are and i both have 3.5 altimas as well
