SC'd Aussie Maxima
It's the first one to be done in the southern hemisphere as far as I know.
It's a 1998 Nissan Maxima 30 S.Touring - It's the sports touring model of the Maxima here. Looks like your Infinity I30.

Where did you get the supercharger plate from?
|
Came with the second hand kit I bought from a guy on this forum called 'trialt'.
It's a crappy plate thats missing two standoff bolts and a plate-to-blower mounting stalk. I've just purchased a V1 conversion plate off Matty with a full bolt kit to replace it. I had to replace it because it seems to be flexing under boost or something and throwing the belt off - thus shredding. Gotta love V2's for that! Though mind you, minus three vital bolts i'm sure its not helping. Takes about a week before my belt is history. Only 10 more days and I'll have a solid matty plate in there :D |
Congrats mate! Have fun with that thing, go R32/33/34 hunting.. :D :hide:
|
Nice looking setup. Is that a RFL BOV? Does it do a good job of venting at idle/part throttle?
|
Skylines are boring IMHO. Too common - and nobody has a supercharged Maxima here - thats for sure.
Nope - not RFL - It's a TurboXS BOV, but yes - it does do a good job of venting at idle. Knock it back a gear to second at 60km/h and theres a really nice long woosh as all the air is expended. If its releasing small amounts of boost it has this funny little "honk". But at high boost it sounds like a shotgun just went off. lol. |

Lol - OK. It came with my second hand kit, so all I know was it was a TurboXS.
BOV sounds awesome. Dandymax: Can't wait to get it back on the road again and smoke some V8's and Skylines... oh and dont forget the WRX's! *yawn* I hear you've been in Australia before and know Ceasar quite well. Good old bloke he is! He definitely is the source of a lot of my inspiration. |
nice car, you have any plans on getting a dyno?
|
Nice! Getting on a dyno anytime soon?
|
Congrats. It's hard enough to complete a project like this where the parts come from, let alone trying to do it thousands of miles away. Good job.

I hear you've been in Australia before and know Ceasar quite well. Good old bloke he is! He definitely is the source of a lot of my inspiration. I was in Australia a year ago January (2007), really enjoyed myself and liked Queensland. I remember going through Townsville area on the way up the coast. Went up and did some whitewater rafting on the Tully before moving on to Cairns and a SCUBA liveaboard on the GBR. Great memories. Not too long after that I flew over to NZ and eventually visited Ceasar for a few days. He is indeed a good guy. |
Oh yes - Definitely getting a Dyno. But I'm going to wait til the VB Mod and Exhaust is done. Theres a place in town that will dyno tune my Emanage for $90.
It was hard work. We must have made about 20 or so trips to random various places trying to find the bits we needed to custom fabricate fuel lines, vacuum lines, tees, the we needed extra bolts - counter sunk hex bolts at a certain diameter and depth.. it was mental believe me. But it works other than the fact I couldnt source two standoff bolts and I have a mounting stalk missing. It's never going to work, so it's back to sourcing more bits from the States. The only thing batting for me is that dollar is getting very close :P Dandymax: Funnily enough I am a New Zealander that moved here a couple of years ago. Next time you pass through Townsville, let me know. |

Thanks mate! Hardly any maximas here. My fiancee and I own two.. that'd be most of the maximas in Townsville I'd imagine.
Nice burnout pic. |

Yeah last summer i went back to AUS for 2 months, and i literally saw ONE maxima haha, although i was mostly out in the country, but for the 2-3 weeks in sydney only saw one.
|
Yeah. Not very popular here. If you go to New Zealand you'll see Maximas and Cefiros EVERYWHERE! You almost can't go down a street without seeing one.

LOL!! Yeah... they make good taxi's. The drivers swear by them for their reliability. Was talking to a taxi owner of an A33 Cefiro and it had just been bought, but his previous A32 clocked 450,000km's or something crazy like that before he decided to get a new one.

What a bunch of hogwash. Bad information seems to die hard around here. The problem lies with your tensioner assembly/hardware, and possibly your aftermarket pullies. FWIW, there has been one or two isolated cases with V1 plate owners shredding belts. But that's a moot point now, since you've gone to the dark side and joined the V1 army! |
Lol, was he?? He was a good guy for letting me take three months to pay him for the kit. He didnt seem to care and chucked in heaps of extra goodies.
Well I can't work out what the problem was with my setup. I got a plum bob on it and she was plum alright! Whatever happened its got me beat. Wish I had one of you guys around to help me out, thats for sure. I'm such a n00b :( Yes - nothing like turning to the dark side! If you can't beat em, join em. Besides, my plate is hagged looking :( ps. I like how your supra is making 2 more hp with 6 psi more boost :) |
