Help...I'm a meatstick
 

I'm pretty new to the org but each day I get into it more and more. I have a 92 se 5spd w/ stock rims and Pirelli p8000 on them. I want to upgrade my rims and tires but am pretty clueless about what to get. I do not want to lower the car and I do not want a stiff and harsh ride.
Does the tire/rim upgrade make a noticeable difference in performance?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

If you are not planning to lower the car, I don't think you should get rims. Your car would sit very high and look weird.

Unless he gets the same size wheel/tire as stock.

I think the 4th gen 5 spokes would look nice. As far as performance goes it all depends on the tire you choose. A lot of people overlook the fact that a tire is about the best handling mod you can get. Also the reason I wouldn't go with larger wheels b/c it will look rediculous if your not lowered.

Get Eibach Pro-Kit lowering springs. You said that you didn't want to
lower it, I know. But they ride as smooth as stock, with better handling.
I had them on my Honda Accord, and I had no problems at all with them. Then you can get any wheels you want and it won't look funny.

I agree with ryand.white. The eibachs arent a major drop, so all you would be doing is taking out that gap. You would still be able to ride over bumps and stuff just fine, and it really wouldnt feel much different.

I have the pro-kit and it is quite a bit stiffer than stock:)

if you want confy ride stay with stock springs.

big wheels will look good on the car even if it is not lowered, just make sure that the outside diameter of the tyres is roughly the same as stock. Eg. 205/65/15 = 225/45/17 (I think)

I wouldn't go for any wheel larger than 16" with stock suspension. It will look pretty silly. IMO.
