Are 225/40/17's okay for my Max?

I got a set of Enkei wheels with 225/40/17's off my friends MR2. The rims are in great shape and the tires are brand new Dunlops, he paid well over $1000 for the set up. My question is, are these tires too thin? Its a pretty small sidewall, and the only reason I havent put them on yet is because I gotta get my Max dropped first, the wheel gap must've been atleast 6 inches with these rims. I know its going to affect the ride quite a bit, which is not a problem with me. Anyways, should I stick with these or get something a little bigger?

stock 16's come with 215 I believce, and stock 2k+ come with 225, so I guess it's not like it's out of spec or anything. obviously won't handle as well as a 235 or 245.

now if you look at the overall diameter you're off by a relatively large margin... like 4.5% or so. but because the new wheels would be smaller, your speedo would read faster than you're actually going. theoretically this would make your car faster, but it also means you'll accumulate miles faster (I believe).

this is a very helpful tool: Tire size calculator . just plug in your stock tire size and then the tires you're considering and it will tell you the size difference.

Thanks alot. I checked out the calculator earlier and the offset it would have on the odometer and speedometer. I just wanted to make sure they wouldnt be too thin. I guess I just gotta watch out for potholes now.
