Will my 18" SSR rims fit on my friends Lexus SC300?
 

Well, I went to a few tire shops, but none had any idea what to tell me. I bought my 18x7.5" SSR GPO rims a few months ago, but I'm thinking I want to sell them and get smaller rims. My friend has a 95 Lexus SC300, and is interested in buying my rims. I test fit one of my rims on his front wheel, but after driving 3 feet we heard a sort of grinding noise. I though it might work since when the car was off the ground, the wheel spun freely.

I've called Tirerack, but they were unable to help me. There is only one tire place around here that could help me, but they will be closed until after I have to go back to college. To get the wheels to balance correctly, I had to buy (I forget the exact name of the things) rings. They go on the inside of the rim where it comes in contact with the car. I was told they help the rims sit properly, so they don't wobble a little bit. I don't know if this helps you guys at all, but if you could help me out at all I would really appreciate it. BTW, this one guy I talked to said I might need something like 1/4 spacers....but who knows....

A. They are called hubcentric rings.
B. Offset of the wheels is needed before any questions can be answered.

Well, I bought the rims used off Ebay, and I forget the offset. How can I figure that out?

Well if he is your friend just tell him to come over ( assuming he lives near you but maybe not ) and just try switching out the rims

ok, i still didnt get the rims off, but i looked in the inside of the rim and saw a +45. does this help?

edit: they also say 690 KG on the inside. i thought this would help me figure out the weight, but when i tried to convert it, it turned out to be 1521 pounds.....obviously not right. what does the 690 kg mean?

The 690 is the weight it will hold. Roughly 6000 lb vehicle.

+45 is the offset.

well, the offset is 45. will they fit? do you know if i will need some spacers for this?

I got some info off a Sc300 website:
Both SC coupes' bolt patterns are 114.3 x 5, stud design, with 12 x 1.5 threading and 60.1 bore. The stock offsets are +50mm.
So we have the same bolt patter, but their offset is +5 mm larger than my rims. I have no idea what the threading and bore mean. Please help me guys.....I'm desperate. Since their offset is larger, does that mean my friend would need spacers?

12x1.5 refers to the lug nuts/studs size/threadpitch.
the centerbore is the size center in mm.

You tried them on and heard bad noises, right? That should tell you something.

What's the stock wheel width for the sc300? the offset isn't much use without that info.

I think the stock wheels are 16x6.5. I test fit them and they scratched, but when I had a shop install one the couldn't duplicate the noise...so they said it was fine to install. They said there were no clearance issues either, so now I'm just kinda confused.....
