SO are KUMHO's good tires?
 

My front tires are almost bald and I think I should replace it b4 I fuk up in teh snow. I am looking at Kumho's from tirerack.com. I need 215/55/16's for my 2k Maxima se. What u guys think, anyone have any good/bad experience with it? Here is the link to them

Good for the money, but they wear down quick and cannot grip the ground worth a damn once they start wearing down. Prepare to slide all over the place.

Kumho's are pretty good in the dry/wet. Not very good in the snow, but you'll survive if you drive slowly. Cant beat it for the money.

It depends on what Kumho's. I have Exsta's and I'm pretty sure they are "summer tires". there are HORRIBLE in the snow. Please do not get these for the winter, they are very dangerous.

I just put these tires (the 716s) on my i30 one month ago and have posted my impression before. Living in the northeast I have had a chance to use them in the rain, dry conditions, and this weekend in the snow. They are a very balance tire and perform well in all conditions. They did very well in the snow with no loss of traction and I never had that uneasy feeling you get with some tires that you are about to slide off the road. I even hit the gas and the traction control did not come on. A sign that the tires were holding the road even on snow and ice!

They seem to be a decent all season tire for the money and the Tire Rack review seems favorable :thumbsup:

i got those... exsta, right. so, they are 225/50/17 and the most chipest, which is good. But! The compound is hard, so they ride hard, then they are not so ROUND, and tires are supposed to be round, i think.One response on the tirereck mentiond that these need to be shaved and then balansed, but i did not pay much attention to that and it turns to be so! So, they are good for money, but that is it.
And i almost forgot, one funny thing. These are directional tires AND assimmetric also, so when i got them they looked like i could put them on one side of the car only. So that assimetry is not a real thing, just for the look. So personally i will not buy them again. B4 i had sumitomo 2 different models, really soft; so3 pole pos., really good but expensive, do not come in 225/50/17 size; and the best of all, but not sold anymore, RE71, a couple of years ago i got rear once (bmw m3) 245/40/17 for like $97 each!

I have the Kuhmo Ecsta MX series and I am pretty happy with them. They wear quickly, but grip good.

The exsta you had are different from the all season 716s, correct?

If so, i got a summer vesion, KH11

just put the 716's on a few weeks ago. Very happy with the traction in wet and dry.

just get the best of the kuhmo's, they are good tires.and best price.
unless if you are constantly doing track races.
im happy with mine. if they are so bad, why do dealers like lexus and bmw using them on their new cars?

What?! Which lex or bmw use kumho as factory installed tires? That's a BIG news to me... kia or hundai could, but bmw...
If KH11 is not good enough for me, it is not good for ME; if you are happy with it, live with it and be happy :)
But i've compared it to other tires and that's my opinion, and i don't buy them again, period.

They are good on dry and wet pavement
Worthless in snow and wear very quickly i got 16k miles out of them and they were almost bald at that point , i have bridgestone potenza 950 now and have 25k on them and still have a little tread left to go and they are as good in every way as the kumhos or better and not bad in snow either and they are rated very good on the tire rack site. the potenza's are about $40 more than the kumhos but def worth the money

Are you talking about the 716? It sounds like you had another type of Kumho maybe one of their summer tires.

The 716, which the original poster was asking about, are All Season and have a 50,000 mile warranty. In my experience so far this winter are good in the snow.

My bad yeah i had the summer ones the ones hes asking about are rated pretty good on tire rack the snow rating on the kumhos are a little bit higher than the ones i have , sounds like a good deal

ive had my escta 712 on for about 9k.. they wear fine.. i expect about 25k from them. im not even close to half wy yet and i drive pretty hard. i rotate and rebalance them every oil change though. its free from where i got them.
grip wise they are pretty good in dry. ive never slid unintentionally. if you have feel for you car, you'll know when they are about to let loose... their rain perfornamce is great compared to the dunlop d60's i had on before. great tire for the money, but there are definatly better out there.
