My brother is getting tires today for his car. What's the best place to buy tires?
 

NOt online, but any store you have in mind that has good prices? Also, he is buying Continental CEC for his 95 MAX. Are they good? Thanks.

I have bought my last 6 set of tires from Discount Tires. There are cheaper prices on the internet, but after you factor in the cost of installation, and balancing, they work out to about the same. Another reason I buy from Discount Tires is that they offer free flat repairs, free balancing, a prorated warranty, free tire rotations, all of this included in the price for the life of the tire.

The cheapest way your gonna find tires is online..I just went threw this when I got my 15's...go on tire-rack and buy tires shipped then go to a strauss or soemthing and have them put on..cheapest way

On the stock size, I agree with you, price the same roughly. BUT you get a better tire generally speaking for the same price. A RE950 was ridiculously priced locally, over $100. My bro' just got the SP Sport A2 and it cost $15/wheel to mount/balance.

If you are talking 17-19" tires, they are still cheaper over the net, and there is way more selection.

It is a GXE, so its a 205/65-15. I called Sears, and they never even heard of them before, and plus i found them to be a rip-off. Any well known store that might have these? Because he wants them immediately because his tires are too bald.

Go to a local Discount Tire. They should have pretty good prices.
But why not simply buy them online?

The reason is because i can't find the Continental ContiExtreme Contact anywhere online, except at TireRack.com, but it says that the shipment will take 4 to 10 weeks! Ouch. That's a long time.

I have looked on the net, but I think about how many times I will have to rotate and balance the tires over the life of it. Also with the last couple set of tires I had to get them repaired due to nails or screws. This would of gotten a little expensive if I had to pay for it, but Discount Tire covered it. Discount can get you any tire you want as well, even ones that they do not have at their stores or website. I almost went with TireRack for my last set, but decided it was worth a few extra bucks to get stuff fixed for free, due to all of the road debri I seem to be attracting lately :) . Was the $15 dollar fee a one time fee, or will your brother have to pay the balancing fee everytime he needs the tires balanced?

My local Discount Tire will pricematch any online stores if they're in stock. However, you'll have to pay for shipping and mounting and balancing fees. :)

I'm also looking for 205x65R15s, and discounttire (or tirerack.com?) is selling all season Kumhos for 40bux each, 190 shipped. I'd pay $50 more to get better tires like Goodyear though...

I always get mine from discout tire w/ their road hazzard warranty

When my dad got tires for his Pathfinder the local NTB matched the Tire Rack price inluding shipping plus $50 for install. They had to order the tires too. Ask around at local tire places until someone gives you a good deal. My dad saved over $100 by asking them to match Tire Rack.
