Question about tire size
I am looking to get some winter tires for my 99 Maxima SE. I know the stock tire size is 215/55/16, but I was wondering if 205/55/16's would work on the stock Maxima rims. The 205's would be a little narrower and a slightly shorter in diameter, but other than that would I have any issues? I have found a good deal on the 205's, so that is why I am considering that size.

That size should fit with no problem, except your speedometer will read about 2% fast. You could also try 205/60-15. These would be slightly larger in diameter than stock. Your speedometer would read slightly slower.

If it's only 2% that's fine, as within 3% is usually the tolerance. I think either the 55 or 60 would be fine, although I'm not sure 205/60-16 is all that common(?). Just don't tell the shop it's for a Maxima though (if they care at all) because tire shops usually don't like "downgrading" tires in some way.
