Ordered Coopers, here's why...
Odered Cooper Lifeliner SLE in the stock size 225/50/17 and are waiting to have them installed. Went with these over the Falkens (and other brands) for a number of reasons. I have received nothing but good comments from those with Coopers already on their Maximas. The total cost (including mounting, balancing, road hazard and tax) will be $535. So the price is very good. They do not have problems with balancing or wearing out quickly. The ride is very good from what I have heard, and the tires are supposedly pretty quiet. I realize that I will not be getting an all out performance tire, and I am ok with that. I need good all season tires that will last for a while with no problems, and knock on wood, I hope that is what i get. I will follow up once I actually have them on the car...hopefully all goes well!
Here are a couple pretty good pictures of what the tire looks like (only wont be on that kind of wheel). http://home.tampabay.rr.com/latino/m...s/Pa090015.jpg http://home.tampabay.rr.com/latino/m...s/PB080007.jpg |
Links aren't working for me.
May I ask where you purchased the tires from? Did you buy local or online? I know Tiresavings.com has them for $99/ea. |
I hear a lot of good thinngs about cooper tires also.
I do believe they were really the first to come out with the whole run flat tire. |
I bought locally, but yes you could order them online. I think no matter where you live, you should be able to get a very good price if you decided to go with these. I checked about 4 or 5 places and they were all between $535 and $600, so it is just a matter of asking for the best price. It's amazing how much some places are willing to come down in price if you just ask!
(Anyone else having problems with those links?) |
I see 'em now. They didn't appear in the post, I had to cut and paste the link into another browser. Might just be me..
They look pretty wide - are those 225/50-17s in the picture? Or are those rims 18"? |
Not sure, that was just the best picture of them on a car that I could find. The biggest size they come in is 235/50/17 so they arent 18's.

Irl4512,
Did you get these tires installed yet? I'm looking for new tires for my '02 Maxima and was wondering what you think of these tires once mounted on your car. |
They go on Tuesday Nov. 30th. I saw them on a 2k max at a car dealer just up the street, and they actually look pretty nice. The lettering on the side of the tire is much smaller than you see in the pictures on the Cooper website. I test drove a 2k1 Max a couple months ago with Coopers on it for the specific reason of testing out the tires...seemed pretty quiet and stable. I dont drive my car hard, so the performane issue really isn't that big of a deal for me...I'm just hoping for a good all season tire. I will post some feedback once I have them on.
And also, I am having a lot of fun "getting rid of" what is left of my Potenzas. This car can really handle a lot more than I thought it could! |
Yeah, let me know how you like them after they've been mounted. I'm looking for the same thing, a decent all around tire that will work in the winter weather and wear well. I usually don't drive my car too hard so performance shouldn't be a major issue for me either.

Cooper follow up
Ok, so I got the Coopers today, and I like them a lot. Put about 100 miles on them. They are just as quiet as the Potenzas (even at 85 mph). They look really nice as well, and it's easy to see that they will do very well in the rain/snow with the tread pattern. They are slightly "softer" feeling than the Potenzas, which actually makes the ride a little more comfortable. Cornering is much better than I had expected...excellent grip and decent stability. So the only negative about them so far is that the sidewalls are softer which makes them feel a little squishy in a hard turn, but this can also be seen as a positive with the improved ride. For the money...I'm very happy. When I get the car washed and a few more miles on them, I will post another follow up.

Cool. Glad they worked out well. I'm leaning towards these for my car...
